Yonhap have produced this image suggesting the fire started on the second roof level, but there's no news as to the cause as yet.

I suppose the most obvious possible cause would be an electrical fault with a light in the wooden roof.

Hmm, I tell a lie - Yonhap are reporting possible arson in this article.

A taxi driver claims to have seen some suspicious 50-something bloke with some fireworks..

I took about 10 minutes of Video, I'll post it once it's uploaded. It looks like it won't stand much longer, that's sad indeed. cheeseface this is not something to scoff at, even the anti-Korea posters understand the significance of this landmark.

cheeseface: Umm... the Japanese have already burnt down most of Korea's cultural treasures, when they were in Korea, between 1910-1945.

The loss of Namdaemun would be tragic.

Wonders how much was destroyed when the Ming and Qing Chinese controlled Korea several hundred years before the Japanese came.

What a shame- a few hours ago it seemed as if it was just a small issue- now it appears its going to be totally destroyed.
