Requirements

2 300 000 KRW per month
Category 1-A
-Elementary, Middle, or Secondary school TEACHER's
CERTIFICATE
-Minimum two years' of full-time English teaching
experience at accredited teaching institution(s)

Category 1-B
-Master's Degree
-Minimum two years of full-time English teaching
experience at accredited institution(s)
(I��(B
Category 1-C
-TESOL, TEFL or CELTA certificate comprised of a
minimum of 100 course hours
-Minimum two years of full-time English teaching
experience at accredited institution(s)
(I��(B
Category 1-D
-Bachelor's degree in Education
-Minimum two years of full time English teaching
experience at accredited institution(s)
(I��(B
Category 2
2 100 000 KRW per month
Category 2-A
-Elementary, Middle, or Secondary School Teacher's
Certificate
(I��(B
Category 2-B
-TESOL, TEFL or CELTA certificate comprised of a min.
of 100 course hours
(I��(B
Category 2-C
-Master's Degree or Graduate Diploma
(Program must be a minimum of 2 years in duration)

Category 2-D
-Minimum one year of full time English teaching
experience at accredited institution(s)
(I��(B
Category 2-E
-Bachelor's degree with a major in Education
(Education major must be clearly stated on either
the diploma certificate or official transcript.)

2 000 000 KRW per month

-No other certificates or experiences outlined in

Please explain this 100 hour TESOL course in more detail because apparently the GEPIK school I spoke seems to think my 120 course doesn't make the cut? Therefore want to bump be down from a category 1 teacher to a category 2 teacher on the pay scale. Personally I think they are trying to be cheap and save an extra 200K won per month. |

Not the highest yet but getting there.
I know Cat 1 teachers in Kyungnam EPIK make 2.4 + travel bonus. |

I did a 120 course and a GEPIK school is accepting mine  |

Yep! In my first year in Korea with EPIK. I've a BA and a CELTA I've trumped the top scale by 100,000 already. |

2 years in duration for an MA
I wonder how they verify that, most MAT programs I've looked into are a little over one year. |

Yes, it is! While it may be "peanuts" to a lot of posters here, there is an opportunity to make more with after school classes--closer to 3m / month, and still getting off before dinner time. |
