Actually the convicts in my family (5 on my mothers side) were guests of the King (and 1 was pardoned).

| Actually, "Mate" is used almost as much in the UK, & in the same Oz context, of a friend. 'Buddy' & 'Pal' don't have quite the same ring to them. |
