|
|
I was wondering if anyone knows of a large hospital 종합병원 or 보건소 in Uijeongbu where I can get my blood test / medical test done in one day, so they need to have a lab in the hospital that can process it. Most small hospitals have to send out to a private company to get it done.
Has anyone done this up in Uijeongbu or Pocheon? |

It can be done at Uri Hospital (우리병원) in Songu-ri, Pocheon. It costs 50,000 won and takes 3-4 days to get the results back. This is where I had mine done. If you go there, you'll want to take a Korean speaker to translate for you.
In an earlier thread, another poster mentioned having it done at St. Mary's Hospital (성모병원) in Uijeongbu. According to the post, it cost 60,000, there were several English-speaking nurses to help out, and it took 2 hourswhich leads me to believe that the results were received the same day. |

St. Mary's is pretty close to Nogyang subway station. If you get in a taxi there and ask for it, you'll be there in 10 minutes. They're used to dealing with foreigners too. |

33, 72, and 138 all stop in Pocheon, so you can go directly to the hospital from here.
The intercity bus (Cheorwon - Suyu Station) can also take you directly from Pocheon to St. Mary's Hospital. Fewer stops than the local numbered buses, but they're more expensive. These buses are red, orange, and white, and they say 선진고속 (Seonjin Express) on the back. |

St Mary's will costs under 4,000 in a taxi from Ganeung station. Although Uijeongbu station is closer, the road layout makes it a much longer taxi journey from there.
When you enter the main door of the hospital, take an immediate right. Next to the cashier's desks for payment, on the right hand side, is the 24 hour foreigner clinic.
You may want to try St Peter's hospital. This is closer, but they have limited English ability. They are on the No. 3 road, just past Ganeung station. Take Exit number 2 and walk to the end of the road. You should see a crown bakery and a Dunkin Donuts at the end of the road. Look across the road and a little to the left, and you will see St. Peters.
I had a government medical there last year for my PS job, and they did the blood test. |
