I think the corresponding Marantz reciever is the 4002 which doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the yamaha v663 has. I don't have the same amount of coin to put down as Bassexpander so won't be going for the higher end units. I know I shouldn't get blinded by the bells and whistles but the yamaha looks a bit more future proof than the Marantz. One thing I like is that it is iPod ready. I know the sound quality, even with the programming to upgrade the sound won't be that great. Its just to hold me over until I can construct media center computer with a hard drive large enough to hold all of my music using lossless codecs. Maybe I will have second look at the Marantz.
I looked up Mission and on the one site they all seemed more expensive than the wharfedales. Maybe I just need to keep on looking. So many choices it is all a little confusing. oh well.

How much do you plan to spend on speakers?

My grandfather called. He wants his

It's around 12'x12' I'd say. Thought it was 10'x12', but it's a smidge bigger. My place is a typical old-style Korean villa with a small kitchen area, one larger bedroom, and one small.

I"m now thinking about waiting a while longer and saving up more and getting a set like this one.

Retro is good. I had an old wooden, 12 tonne marantz amp that cost me $30. Excellent sound through a pair of not-so-bad JVC speakers. Too bad the left channel crapped out on me. Maybe someday I'll pull it out of the attic back home and go hunting for burnt out resistors.

I've never been a fan of Warfdale speakers. I haven't given them a good critical listening, however. The one set I heard really came across as something similiar to Pioneer-type run-of-the-mill speakers.

Somewhere in the UK I have a 5.1 setup with B&W 603's Paradigm center, wharfedale rears and a paradigm sub. All tied into a marantz amp. rear projection TV for the picture

Not sure where they all arenow though. I know with a couple of phone calls they will all come back to me.

I miss them a lot.

I had a smaller kenwood amp in my bedroom tied to some kenwood speakers and sub that was pretty nice.
My Exposure super XX amp and another set of 603's in the bedroom. a Arcam CD player.

I do miss a decent sytem to listen to music on.

Most of what I have read about wharfedale has been positive. From what I can tell they have a reputation of having the sound quality of much higher priced speakers. Unfortunately down here in Ulsan they don't have any quality av shops to check stuff out. If I knew of a place in Busan I would go down there and have a listen to some speakers and see for myself. I think I won't be getting anything for a couple or more months so maybe i'll find out about a good place down there.
