I got a police report from the local police here in Korea, it's in Korea unsurprisingly enough.
Do they do an English version or will I need to take it to an official translator?

Apparently, that's all they give out. If you want an official one in English, you may have to go through your embassy. One positive about the Korean one, is that it is the genuine article, it's free and available fairly much instantly. Bless.

Getting one through the NZL embassy involves faxing papers off to Seoul, sending them around seventy bucks (as memory serves) and that'll be about three weeks at best. It's a lengthy and expensive process to prove that, yes, I am STILL not a criminal!

Guess which one I'm choosing.

If you don't have a criminal record in Korea, then you will just see a table with a lot of empty boxes -- nothing filled in.

Don't you have a Korean wife who can tell you what it says? (Seems I recall something like that about you.)

Why do you need it in English?

Well, he can always take it to the Seoul Migrants Center and get a helpful, (somewhat) bi-lingual Korean chap to tell him what it says.

Unsurprisingly, the police report is not done in English by the polce station.

Assuming you are in Korea, you need it translated by a registered translator. There are places in Korea which have "번역". These are the places to do this. Unfortunately, they do it for a fee.

I don't know where in Korea you are, but I went to a place in Daejeon since that is where I worked. It was in Dunsan Dong in Yuseong Gu in Daejeon Si.

I don't understand why the Korean authorities want it translated to English. Is there writing on it, I'd be very surprised if squirrel did anything outside of the law... Shocked

Is it just a scam to get you to spend money on a completely unnecessary translation? Furthermore, why do you have to do it anyway? You did one already, this is your second contract at the same school. I'm 4 months away from finishing my second contract at the same school and I wasn't asked to produce a second CRC.

I had to do mine because it is the only way to complete a security/background check in my home country since I lived in Korea for over 12 months.
