Does anyone know of an easily accessible Korean language version of the Labor Standards Act?
Citing the law in English to someone who has limited English abilities seems a little limited so I would like to get the Korean language version. A former employer (a uni down in Gyeongsangnam-do) has never responded to my requests for a Certificate of Employment stating the term of my work experience there. I need that so I can get a raise.
Cheers. |

The Korean title of the law is "근로기준법." Looking for that on the Ministry of Labor's website, http://www.molab.go.kr, I came across this link:
[EDIT: Link didn't work. Yet another Korean website that doesn't permit deep-linking. See my surprised look? Instructions to get to the page from the MoL homepage are below.]
Notably, it appears that the Labor Standards Act has been amended again: the date on the Korean act is given as 2008.03.28, and the act number as 9038; the English version on the MoL's English homepage gives a date of 2007.07.27 and an act number of 8561.

Sorry, should have tested my link, especially since Korean websites are notoriously hostile to deep-linking.
Anyway, you can get to it this way:- Go to the Korean-language Ministry of Labor homepage (http://www.molab.go.kr/);
- On the top menu bar, mouse over "법령마당" and click on "법령현황" (the first option) on the menu that appears underneath;
- On the following page, scroll down to the heading "근로기준관련";
- Click on the leftmost link beside "근로기준법."
If you still can't get to it by following those instructions, shoot me a PM and I'll PDF it and e-mail it to you or something. |
