Have any other Xbox 360 owners had their machine etch circular scratches into their game CDs? It just happened to my GTA IV disc when it was inside my Xbox.
I'm waiting to get in touch with Microsoft Korea's Xbox customer service department to see what they can do to help. Wish me luck, and if it's happened to anyone else, let me know. There are all kinds of reports about it on the Internet, but I was curious about folks here in Korea. |

It was a known problem with older 360's. Especially if it was vertically mounted.
They did do a disk replacement service but it would be best to speak to customer service. |

A friend of mine kicked my Xbox while it was vertical and Madden came out scratched. I used a Disc Dr. and it fixed it right up. Not sure if they sell those here. |

If the XBox360 is on, and you have a disc in there, DON'T TOUCH THE MOTHER F*CKER!!!
Don't turn it vertical to horizontal. Don't even pick it up to move it to the side. Don't even look at it. |

In a world of portable CD players where people give no thought to moving their player because your discs don't get fucked up, the apparent fragility of the Xbox is a serious design flaw.
In the Netherlands there is a budding movement to begin a class-action lawsuit against Microsoft, and for good reason, I think.
For such a device--one that is given to kids as young as 6 or 8 or so--to have a crippling flaw like this is beyond the pale. Boo, Microsoft! |

Thing to remember as well is that it's spinning a lot faster than a portable CD player so the slightest wobble or knock will be magnified a lot. |

Pkang is right - hell man we don't even move ours to another location anymore for fear or bumping something resulting in RROD failure or worse.
But we have definitely noticed major flaws in the dvdrom - we find that if we eject a disc w/o first turning the console off it just continues to spin as the tray is ejected causing light scratching. So yeah in summation the hardware is junk but so far we have found the exclusives to be quite good. |
