What is certainly the case is that the combined average obesity rate of the US, UK, Australia and Canada is 22.4% (source) whereas in Korea it's 3.6% (meaning for every 100 fatties from the US, UK, AUS, CAN there are 16 Korean fatties).

It's even worse for just the US, where for every 100 fat Americans there are 11.7 fat Koreans. That Koreans are generally not as fat as us is inescapable.

I agree the mods should delete any and all discriminatory posts, but clearly there's a factual discussion to take place about obesity involving objective data.

And it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the topic at hand other than to, ONCE AGAIN, rag on Western women for being fat and ugly and Korean women to be thin and beautiful. We get it, you don't like fat women. You don't have to bring it up on every thread.

Most Gyopos males and females being both Korean and Western seem neither fat or thin. Most seem average/normal weight. I guess it partly has to do with having a similar diet growing up.

It does have to do with the topic at hand, and it's worth repeating. Obesity is a major flaw of western society and people (especially women) try to justify, defend, or pretend it's normal.

You'll have heard it enough when the weight comes off. People deserve to hear they are fat, same as drug addicts deserve to hear they are drug addicts.

Introducing statistics in support of the position that the West, especially the US, has a major problem with obesity (whereas Korea barely has one at all) does not equal "ragging on Western women for being fat". I was just saying obesity can be discussed rationally, calmly and objectively (and this was in respose to comments made by others including by a mod).

travel zen seems to have a short memory- A lot of middle class Korean women who are studying English abroad don't have any problem dating black men. Yet back in Korea they wouldn't be caught dead walking arm in arm with a brother down the street. It would totally sully their reputation. ....

Memory? Stepping off the plane first day in Korea, I've seen so many black dudes with sparkling young and pretty korean girls. So many many. The ones with the problem, well, they have problems Very Happy

Reputation? I think those types of girls would have their rep sullied if they dated ANY race other than Korean. Racism is a problem there.

Girls who studied abroad? I don't date those. They come for 1 year and leave so what's the point other than meaningless sex, which is not really dating. Rolling Eyes

Yes, obesity and subsequent problems with heart disease and diabetes is a serious topic. Don't forget that men can also be obese and while the US does have a higher rate of obesity it doesn't mean that every American is overweight. I see plenty of slim English Teachers and GI Janes in my neighborhood of Haebongcheon.

Also it was interesting to note that Canada is not even in the top ten- not that it is anything to proud of it's just interesting to note that Canucks have half the obesity problem the US does. Perhaps it is due to socialized health care? But then the UK is #3 in morbid obesity too as well and they have a national health plan.

Oh by the way Korea and Japan do have a big problem with heart disease and diabetes. A lot of Asians are a risk for those diseases at lower BMI's of 20-22.

It would totally sully their reputation. I know a lot of "heffers" back in North America who have a little more personal courage then that.

I know a lot of "heffers" back in North America who don't take directions from mommy and daddy on who to marry. How many expats here do you know that are crying in their beers tonight because their Korean girlfriend dumped them because of family pressure?

When I was back in Toronto I noticed a lot of slim, young, attractive Canadian women of all races. Perhaps it was just a matter of social class? Maybe blue collar workers are more likely to be overwieght? Middle and upper middle class people have better education and more money to buy healthier food?

I'd like to think that the white women I've dated NOT expect to have their reputation "sullied" by being with me.

Yes, blue collar workers are more likly to be overweight

The above reminds me of a memorable occasion on British comedy Fawlty Towers when Basil Fawlty said ...."you should go on 'Mastermind' and your specialist subject should be 'stating the bleeding obvious'..." Laughing

The western men it seems are dating up with these Korean women as they are very pretty. But no offense there is limited dating pool so the western males have unlimited "options" when dating Korean females. If the Korean women went to a western country and saw all the good looking males they would probably dump your sorry a$$es.

Men go take a long look in the mirror and then count your blessings that the Korean females do not have many options when dating western men or else you would probably find yourself at home jerking off to Hustler on a Saturday night like you were doing when living back home.

There is something to the exotic that is attractive. For me,as an American female it will not be Korean men but Scottish, British, Irish men with accents that are really hot!! We all have different taste but seriously the western women bashing is sort of annoying when in fact most fo you men are probably fat and ugly yourselves. Of course this excludes all men with a really hot accent, (the american accents are not included in this as they are just annoying).

So it's ok to bash western men in Korea then?
