I have been through these forums and through websites all over.
There is a lot of conflicting stories of success about this.

I am yet to find definitive information on how to get a CBC from the USA whilst living in Korea quickly and legitimately.

The FBI is one option but the time it takes to get one is too long.
Online checks are not accepted.

Has anyone successfully obtained a CBC whilst living in Korea from the USA without using the FBI?

Canada, UK, NZ, AUSTRALIA and SA I know..so please...just USA.
Thanks

I have. From two different states.

Each state has different processes. Some require notarized permission forms, some don't.

If you get it in Korea, you will have to go to the embassy to get it notarized. I would bring them in the sealed envelope just to be safe for notary purposes.

back stateside I had to get one done. the company I used was in NY and did international business I believe. it cost 325 bucks I think, but had everything done in a week.

when your state takes at least 2-4 months farting around with state police checks done in minutes elsewhere, and then the same time getting the apostilization done, its a good deal! I am not near my computer with the info, but can get it if you like later today or tomorrow

Wrong.

Online criminal background checks from US government agencies are accepted. Online checks from private firms (.com) are not accepted.

Again: An online check from an official government (state) agency in the US, accompanied by your signed affidavid from the US Embassy in Seoul, is acceptable to Korean Immigration for renewing your E2 visa from Korea.

I got my state check done online. I just went to my state police website, typed in the info, paid $25 bucks, and it was done. Simple. They give you the option of having it emailed, or sent via postal mail. I did both just to see if there was a difference. The postal mail one looked a little more professional and had a bit more information so I used that. I had both of them done from right here in Korea though.
