I will be renewing my GEPIK contract next month. I've already applied for a CBC and a new set of transcripts from my university. I've only ordered 1 CBC and 1 set of transcripts (3 in a set). I'll take these to immigration but now I'm starting to wonder whether I should have ordered a second copy of each to give to GEPIK. Has anyone renewed with GEPIK recently and if so did you have to provide them with a CBC and transcripts as well as immigration?

For a GEPIK extension you will require:
1. Visa Extension Application
2. Passport and your Alien Registration Card
3. New contract
4. Sponsorship Certificate (from school)
5. A copy of Certificate of School / Business Registration (from school)
6. Processing Fee
7. New Criminal Record Certificate, apostillized / embassy notarized (for Canadians only)
8. New Health Check Certificate
You will NOT require new transcripts or your degree for a renewal of your contract.
You do NOT need to send anything to GEPIK or the provincial office.

Ttompatz, would I need the same documents if I was to extend my visa with a GEPIK school? I transferred from a hagwon to PS mid-year and my visa expires in August, but my contract is only up next March. Thanks in advance. |

The same documents are required by immigration for ALL renewals / work extensions (PS or hakwon).
The CRC may be waived IF you have submitted one in the last year to immigration or EPIK/GEPIK/SMOE. |

Tompatz - can you please help me find a link to jusitfy the CRC is not necessary if I have supplied one in the past 12 months?
I am going through a loooong process at the moment to do just this!

Please note that for those who had their initial E2 visa issued by the Superintendent of GPOE, you may be exempted from providing the above two documents. However this is at the discretion of the case officers at each Immigration Office.

Besides, the valid period of the criminal record certificate will be extended from existing three months to six months.
In addition, those with the E-2 visa issued after Dec 15 2007 no longer need to submit the criminal record certificate to reissue the same type of visa while staying in Korea.
The Ministry of Justice also decided to remove cannabinoid test from the medical record certificate, which is to test drug taking of Marijuana.
The Ministry of Justice will keep monitoring on and gathering public opinion about E-2 visa system in order to provide Korean nationals with superior foreign language education. |

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does your New Criminal Record Certificate have to be apostillized at the embassy? I ask because I live a plane ride away from the closest embassy. If it does have to be done at the embassy, is it possible to do it by mail or does it have to be done in person? |
