Im referring to paying utilities, groceries, meals, toiletries, the basic necessities, etc.

this can either include the money you spend going out or not. i just want to get a broad estimate from all you guys currently living out there.

The first months are always the most expensive, but once you get settled, you can spend as little as W300,000 a month (including utilities) if you eat local food and don't buy too much else.

Don't forget to use calling cards and, if you're not using the internet at home, you should only pay 6,600 won for basic cable. Have fun! Hey, it's Korea!

forget calling cards. If you're from Canada or the US, Skype is where it's at.

Well in North America the connection rate is like 4cents and then calls are about 3 or 4 (?) cents per minute to any number.

The fee per minute in say, the UK, or to a mobile over there are cost prohibitive in co mparison

If you can get your frineds and family to use Skype on the comp. Comp to comp is 100% free.
