a lot of special FX - but (sorry Keith) Ledger cannot hold a candle to Jack Nicholson's Joker - no way - the trailer doesn't even seem all that enticing -

will pass on this one - too bad too - Batman is my fave Sad

Ledger's Joker DESTROYS Jack's Joker. I was skeptical myself before actually seeing the movie. He plays the role of the Joker the way it was meant to be played. Darker, more complex, and more psychotic than Jack's version.

While I agree that the psychotic Ledger Joker is infinitely more interesting than the Nicholson one, I'd disagree that it was "meant" to be played that way. The Joker was pretty tame originally. Only after Miller and Moore got a hold of him did he get as dark and insane as what people think of as the "real" Joker nowadays.

yeah, after seeing this one, I was thinking how amateurish Jack's performance seems in retrospect. I might have to watch that one again though to refresh my memory.

so where's the fun in more sinister and deeper?

maybe from being a Hitchcock fan - I like twisted and moronic w/a maniac laughter going on - Ledger looked too evil - where was the fun part?

????????????????????????????????????????????

Batman is your fave.

This movie is being heralded as one of the best movies (not just a Batman movie) in a decade by critics across the board.

And you're going to pass because of special effects and trailers that are holding back a bit? I don't get you, bro.

You can hardly notice the special effects. Nothing like the last Indiana Jones or other action movies where it is obvious what scenes are more special effects than anything else.

just my humble opinion.

I got burned out on Batman films long ago. Why they keep resurrecting it is beyond me since most of the Batman films of the mid to latter 90's were only marginally successful.

Typical hollywood "milk it til it's dry", but to each his own.

Lol, that's exactly the sort of thing that fat guy who owns the comic shop in the Simpsons would say.

According to wikipedia, the "fun" and "goofY" joker got his start after the comic industry decided to tone it down due to pressure from the public that comics were too violent/depraved.

This joker is much more fun....instead of being a total goof, he's more so twisted and sociopathic....but still funny....Ledger's joker is the best joker I've ever seen.
