Considering selling my D40 to get cash for an upgrade.

How much would you pay for a D40 body, 18-55m lens, 1GB card, and extra battery?

A kit? No more than 300-350,000W.

I have a D40 with Katzeye installed, and that will go for about 400,000W (but that's because of the katzeye).

Not a bad deal.

For those considering the "used" route, you could buy the OP's used camera for 300-350,000, and use the other 100-150,000 for another lens or some other gear like a battery grip, or a nice bag, or a carbon fiber tripod. Or an 8GB SD card for 25,000W!

However, used equipment can be great or it can be in terrible shape. Make sure you try before you buy.

Where abouts in Yongsan? And are you talking about the D40 or D40x?

I'm going to be heading down there in the next week or so to buy the D40 or D40x. Haven't decided yet...

Thanks

Hey Tim,
Have you gone to buy your camera yet? I'm in the exact same boat as you... Looking to purchase a D40.

Where can we find better deals, Namdaemun or Yongsan?

Namdaemun. Yongsan will always rip you off if you go alone. My Korean friends don't recommend it.

Check out SuperDave's guide to buying camera gear in Korea. He's got a post of it somewhere on ESL cafe.

I have a D40, and I'm having plenty of fun with my katzeye/manual focus combo. I highly recommend it, even used. I bought mine as a Factory Demo from Ebay. It's served me well so far. And it cost me much less than a new one.

OT, but do you have a photo page anywhere? I'd love to see what kind of shots you've taken with that combo.

What's a katzeye? Do you recommend it for newbies? Oh, and what's OP?
