| The inclusion of Palin on the ticket has just about assured Obama's defeat (not that it was unlikely beforehand). |
With 5 weeks to go Obama has 249 electoral votes wrapped up and in the bank. There is the growing possibility of an electoral blowout. |

| The irony of this thread is that Mr. Obama has a similar resume to that of Dan Quayle in 1988. |

Maybe or probably
Quayle was probably smarter than many people thought.Going on there is nothing o show that Mr. Obama is super brillant compared with other candidates for president - this year or in other years.
If the economic crisis had come about six months from now , instead of now McCain would have had a good shot at becoming president. Bad luck for McCain.
Anyway I see two good things at Obama becoming president. If he turns out not to be a liberal then all the liberals will be disappointed ( that isn't a bad thing. ) and if he turns out to be a liberal then he will be out of office in 48 months because the most conservative democratic voters will turn against him. If Obama doesn't do things the Bill Clinton way then he will be a one term president. See what happened to Jimmy Carter. |

What did Palin do exactly that warrants having her replaced? Have a meltdown? |

Small asteroid headed for light show over Africa
By SETH BORENSTEIN 16 hours ago
WASHINGTON (AP) A small asteroid was headed for a fiery but harmless dive into Earth's atmosphere early Tuesday morning over Africa, astronomers said in a first of its kind advance warning.
Harvard scientists announced late Monday afternoon that the asteroid 2008 TC3 would burn up in the sky, making a fireball potentially visible to people in northern Africa. Measuring between 3 feet and 15 feet in diameter, the rock was expected to enter Earth's atmosphere above Sudan at 10:46 p.m. EDT Monday, just before dawn in Africa.
Harvard astronomer Tim Spahr said the asteroid was so small it wouldn't reach the ground before burning up and wouldn't hurt anyone, but the fireball should be seen heading from west to east.
"It's the first time we've been able to predict an impactor in advance and it'll be quite a celestial show for the world," said Donald Yeomans, manager of NASA's Near Earth Object program, which tracks asteroids and comets that come close.
There are 5,681 such objects, but only 757 of them are large enough to cause any damage if they hit Earth.... |

Seriously, we do need to track asteroids. Asteroids can be dangerous. So Quayle's work paid off.
But where there's one asteroid, there can be more.
There's only one disaster left that has not afflicted the U.S. and world during the Bush administration, an asteroid impact. What do you think the odds are? And where would you like it to hit? I'm rooting for Crawford, TX. |
