|
|
I have almost a years ESL teaching experience in another country and currently considering YBM - not the franchises
I have seen the salaries being advertised as varying from 2.0 - 2.4
For someone with a years experience what could I typically `demand` in terms of salary? 2.3 pushing it? bearing in mind the rising costs?
Is 2.1 still the average?
I have done a search which brought me onto the issue of YBM but not much in terms of salaries.
Appreciate any replies from current YBM teachers in regards to conditions......also how are YBM and negotiating contracts? I read on another thread that Danny Kim is quite anal about that but that thread was a few years old |

In 2005 for newbies fresh off the boat, YBM ECC was paying was 1.8.
It seems to go up roughly 0.1 million each year.
So for 2009 lets say 2.2 will be their base rate.
I would say absolutely hold out for it. |

What schools are you considering? From the few convos I've had with DK I would assume he would be anal. |

2.0 is what they give non experienced teachers, which location did they offer you? I'm also considering a job with YBM.

Yeah, DK is definitely not the best at being tactful. But I think that's just his personality. |

I would have thought 2.0 is still pretty low even for a newbie. I am considering them though only because they seem one of the better hagwons out there and actually seem to pay on time judging by previous searches
PS: When you apply, do you need to provide any sort of proof of employment? I worked in Japan previously at a small academy but might have a bit of trouble getting that but can get at a push I guess. |

Hi,
With the fall of the Korean won, why would anyone take a job for 2.0? |

b/c making the same thing in orange county eats your soul and the cost of living is crazier. i'm a banker for Wells Fargo and I only take home about 2k a month and spend around 1200 on bills leaving me with NO savings and very little to live on. |

I guess what I am saying is that I really don't think that a 2.0 job is any good at all now. I, for one, think I would take a job in CHina before I would take a 2.0 job. Right now people should demand more than the very bottom pay scale. This is only IMO. |

So what are most newbs getting offered that would be good enough? I got one for 2.3 but no pension, so passed. What is a realistic salary? |
