If he does, it will most likely be a case of him being completly unaware of the consequences. Koreans teaching privates are a very common occurance and thus wouldn't pay much attention to it. |

NEVER tell anyone that you're doing privates. There's just no need for them to know. You have NOTHING to gain, and a lot (job, airfare, last paycheck, severance, visa, and a fine) to lose.
I'm not saying that all Koreans are snitches, but why on earth would you tell anyone other than your closest friends that you're breaking the law???

I worked in a Korean company and ALL of my personall / off the cuff conversations with my male coworker who was the same age as I were made known to everyone in the team.
MANY Koreans are two-faced and should NEVER be trusted. Be very careful with what you say around anyone. |

While I don't condone turning people in for doing it, I can understand the resentment and anger over those that flaunt their illegal activities.
It was one thing in the '90s when it was totally illegal. Everyone was doing it. It was part of the market. Kind of like running a speak easy during prohibition if you will.
But now that there is a legal venue for it, those that continue to teach privates hurt those that do it legally.
To continue the alcohol analogy, prohibition is over, I pay for a liquor license and pay taxes on the alcohol I sell, but the guy next door continues to run an illegal operation. This puts me at a disadvantage and hurts my profit.
Greedy, I know. Like I said, I couldn't turn someone in, but I can certainly understand why someone else might. |
