Get oil down and the US economy will easily , easily take care of the rest. No question about it.
Get oil down to 40 $ and the housing crisis is a joke that will be over in a couple of weeks.
Get oil down and the fundamentals are VERY strong.
40$ oil means the Dow is 17,000 and the Nasdaq 5000.

I agree that energy is the most fundamental issue long-term. Opec has stated that they will cut production by as much as necessary to keep oil at over 70$ at least. They're not going to allow prices to go back down ever again. Drilling in Alaska will not be enough. Western governments need to start investing huge amounts of money in wind and solar energy and creating infrastructure to support plug-in hybrids and increase public transport. McCain/Palin really don't seem to grasp the necessity of this. |

Oil is not the problem or the answer.
Oil has fallen to $68 today. The dow has fallen below 8700 today. |

68 is still a high price for oil. It is 300% higher than it was 5 years ago.
6 x what it was 10 years ago.
If oil is 30 -40 dollars a barrel see what happens.
30 -40 dollars a barrel oil would also wipe out Iran and Venezuala and would take Russia down as a bonus. |

McCain will invest as much in alternative energy as Obama will. |

BS.
| Quote: |
Obama-
Calls for getting 10% of U.S. electricity from renewables by 2012, and 25% by 2025. Proposes investing $150 billion over 10 years in renewables, advanced biofuels, efficiency, and other clean tech, and says this will help create 5 million green jobs.
McCain-
Supports renewables, but has not offered specific targets. |
