Ever been around British Football Hooligans?

The stuff that spews from their mouths is pure poetry...

Scottish is still British, a common mistake. I think what the OP refers to is the upper class accent often portrayed in movies. I think BETTER examples of good British voices are the likes of Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Malcolm McDowell, etc.

Which accent? The upper-crust oikey-toikey variety? Or the cockney barrow-boy, selling eel-pie variety?

There isn't an accent sexier than the irish accent. Its just pure orgasmic, vocal gold!!! Just wish my Canadian accent wasnt so bland/neutral.

(although as sexy as the irish sound, Sean Connerys voice tops all others. With that accent if he told me to bend over and cough, I think I'd have to assent)

If anyone thinks that the British accent is the best example of spoken English, they obviously haven't been to Liverpool. Dey speak like dat don't dey?

God I met this right cock from Liverpool the other night, he was 45 odd and had a thin braided pony tail that went past his ass. I pointed out to a South African friend that it might be a mid life crisis (i.e. an excuse for his shocking hairstyle) but then my SA friend pointed out that he must have been growing that bloody thing since 1985.

Of all the English speakers, I must say British speak English in its purest form. Americans and Canadians sound like slobs next to eloquent and articulate British speakers. I mean, there is no comparison. British know this and stay very calm and composed about this whereas Yanks and Canucks let that insecurity show by trying to haul insults in order to make themselves feel better. Yanks and Canucks will never be a native in anything and are jealous of those who are natives. I'm Polish-American by the way.

I wouldn't disagree, though by English accent, he's referring to the Patrick Stewart, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown variety, NOT say, Monty Python dressed up as British adjummas talking about "spam"..

hahahahahaah

and yes, American chicks go for that accent, I've seen it with my own eyes.

I tend to give Brits their due... it's VERY difficult to justify and explain how and why the Americans pronounce twenty as twonny.

Based on what?

Give us a valid explanation as to why BrE is better than AmE in simple linguistic terms.

or Spanish from Spain is better Spanish spoken in South America?

I'm British and would say in my opinion that American English is far superior in a linguistic context.

British English spelling: gaol

American English: jail

Which would be the better spelling to teach to a Korean kid?

As for Spanish and the best variant of Spanish spoken - Iberian Spanish is awful - marginally better than Argentine and Chilean Spanish but far down the list with Mexican and Peruvian Spanish being at the top

wrong. Colombian Spanish (as in among the educated in Bogota) is at the top of the list.

the classic Spanish you want to speak is "castellano".

the problem with Spaniards speaking Spanish is their lisp.
otherwise it's lovely.

Not wrong at all Bogey - I know you spent your holidays in Bogota a few times but Mexico and Peru were the epicentre of the Spanish empire in the Americas and thats where the crown sent their best diplomats and governors: It is not my opinion - it is most experts opinion that Mexican and Peruvian Spanish are the best types of Spanish to learn - please look it up. Cool
