Hi all, I am curious to hear your opinions.
I've read many threads discussing how western men prefer to date the Korean ladies over the western ones (I'm guessing alot has to do with the "intrigue" of someone other than the "norm") that aside, I'm curious...
Do you western women (British, Canadian, Austrailian or American etc...) prefer to continue dating the less available western man (usually your fellow teachers) or the typical Korea men ?
Also, I have read threads with several of you mentioning, your (Korean) spouses. Did you meet your spouses once in Korea, or in the country you're from ?
Just curious, and hope I'm not stepping on too many toes, being so personal. |

I like dating western women in korea. Especially the ones who party in itaewon on weekends, smoke cigarettes, are obese, and eat plenty of Mcdonald's. |

I usually have a lot of respect for the western females who come here. I get the impression that they truly want to do something new. Seems like some of the dudes come here because they're maladroit or sociopaths and they hope the language barrier won't give them away, or they think it's time to find a wife. |

"Typical" Korean men do not date Western women.

OP, are you Korean?
I agree that a 'typical' Korean man would probably not date a foreigner.
Also, Korean men have got a bit of a bad name in the past for how some have treated their wives...so 'Western' women may be a little unwilling to experiment.

I'm a Western female, been here for years. I have dated both Korean and Western. Honestly, the mind games and UNmasculinity of Korean men are a total turn-off. Even K-men with nice bodies etc. are still too shy to get my attention.
Unfortunately, the guys I'm attracted to are ultimately swivel-heads for Korean women.
The only thing you can do is come across a guy who prefers non-Asian women, while you're living here in Korea anyway. These K-gals work some kind of magic on the men. I think it's about female assertiveness. Either it turns you on or it don't.
Or beauty..although I never thought Asians were attractive. This I don't get. |

I think it's just simply a matter of numbers...not to mention men are much more likely to go for people from other races than women...I and many others would be totally down for going out with western women.....however the ratio of attractive korean women to attractive western women is something like 50+:1....and most of the western women(and russian too) I've met here weren't attractive enough for me to date back home either...let alone here. |

I came here with my (Canadian) boyfriend.
Still I am not personally attracted to K-guys, not so much physically (some of them are good-looking) but more personality-wise, they seem needy or something. Every time I give my number to a Korean guy (just to be friends), he ends up texting me every single hour and it drives me nuts.
I prefer someone more independent, makes things more interesting. |

Janny, just admit it that Korean girls are hot. It's not your guys' fault that they can't keep their eyes on you.
well, it is, actually. But still. If you worry about who he's looking at you'll go crazy, on either side of the Pacific. Just make sure he knows you'll cut his goollies off if he does anything more than look.
I have noticed that most of the western girls I know are about as attracted to Korean men as Michael Moore is to a salad bar. I don't know why that is. One theory is that they're just racist, and the men, while equally racist, need sex badly enough to overlook it. But that's a little extreme. Maybe it's because American women who come from the middle of nowhere want their men to be lumberjacks who can't read or use a fork, but have biceps the size of shoe-boxes and talk for hours about how many dinosaurs could fit on the end of their pen1s.
No doubt the real answer is too complex and has eluded my tiny brain. |
