The oil monies that have been squandered for 30 years by the UK government could have went a long way to changing the fact that a quarter of Scottish children live in relative poverty and perhaps they could also have raised the life expectancy of certain parts of Scotland which equates to a grand old age of 63.
In fact North Sea oil revenues are excluded from the 'subsidies' Scotland receive yet those revenues are generated using an infrastructure that is bought and paid for with Scottish money from local taxes.
In 1997 when Scotland voted for devolution the UK government annexed 3000 square miles of North Sea waters rich in oil and gas and transferred them to English jurisdiction. This is yet another example of the raping of Scotland that has subsidised the UK Treasury for 300 years.
For a nation of "disgustingly loathsome and inbred maggots" I think we've done pretty well, accounting for 10% of all Nobel Prize winners.

I've no problem with Scots, either, and I'd say that England has been unfair to Scotland through their combined histories. That being said, I'm an American, so my opinion probably doesn't count for much.
I didn't know that Scotland had a football team! I though all they played over there was soccer. |

HAHAHA it's a pity we are since we invented the game, enlightened and taught the most decorated of football nations how to play it.
I put it down to the lack of confidence we have in ourselves as a nation, due to the years of negative propaganda put forth by Westminster as well as the poor economic status of many areas. Too many great football players get to the age of 18 and think there's nothing to do apart from drink and shag. A factor our population can't afford if we're to compete. |
