I'm curious. This practice is the norm in western culture. But most people do it mostly because most people do it. There is little evidence that it has any medical benefit; there is much evidence that it reduces sexual pleasure. Other than that, why do it? Only so the male child will fit in with the other kids?
Ladies, have you opinions on the aesthetic implications?

Huh?
Circumcision was routinely done in my province because of documented lesser rates of infections.
A prostitute once wrote in a tell-all book that uncircumcised men prematurely ejaculated a lot, which is why she preferred them.
It has also been reported that there are also lots of hospital admissions by self-loving teenage boys tearing their foreskins. |

| The practice seems fairly sick and bizarre - yet more evidence of the hatred of males in our culture. As to doing it to reduce the chances of infection, even if true, this is a bit like having your feet amputated to prevent trench foot or doing radical mastectomies on girls to prevent breast cancer. |

I think most of what people think they know of male circumcision is hearsay. It's still a *beep*...frankly, it's a what a *beep* is supposed to be like. It might have been more hygienic a few hundred years ago, but now that we all have access to showers, I don't see how it's any less hygienic. As far as pleasure...I'm not sure how anyone would be able to say that as fact. Pleasure is very subjective.
Un-circumcised men do not prematurely ejaculate a lot. Come on... Boys tearing their foreskins? Where do you find this info? The only difference I've noticed is that one *beep* is wearing a turtleneck.
I don't thin it's a common 'western' thing...more of a North American thing perhaps. I'm a woman, and I don't think I'd circumcise my son. I don't really see why it's necessary. It seems pretty scary as well. If he were to grow up wanting to be circumcised that's his prerogative...I think it's wrong to force children to have irreversible procedures. |

This is not true:

Estimates of the proportion of males that are circumcised worldwide vary from one-sixth[99] to a third.[182] The WHO has estimated that 664,500,000 males aged 15 and over are circumcised (30% global prevalence), with almost 70% of these being Muslim.[126] Prevalence is near-universal in the Middle East and Central Asia.[126] The WHO states that "there is generally little non-religious circumcision in Asia, with the exceptions of the Republic of Korea and the Philippines".[126] The WHO presents a map of estimated prevalence in which the level is generally low (< 20%) across Europe,[126] and Klavs et al. report findings that "support the notion that the prevalence is low in Europe".[183] In Latin America, prevalence is universally low.[184] Estimates for individual countries include Spain[185], Colombia[185] and Denmark[186] less than 2%, Finland[187] and Brazil[185] 7%, Taiwan[188] 9%, Thailand[185] 13%, New Zealand[189] less than 20% and Australia[181] 58.7%.
The WHO estimates prevalence in the United States and Canada at 75% and 30%, respectively.[126] Prevalence in Africa varies from less than 20% in some southern African countries to near universal in North and West Africa.[184] |

Amongst western countries, it's only the norm in the US. Of all my friends, from home, I know of one guy who is circumcised. He did this in adulthood for medical reasons.
It seems like a bit of a weird practice. The only benefit I can see is the potential for reduced risk of HIV transmission. |

Why didn't men evolve over time with no foreskin?
Emm maybe because a man had to cum quick, when a man infiltrated another tribe he had to rape a girl quick and get out: lol:
But to answer your question... yes I would circumcise my son...
Why? For hygiene, to prevent PE,
And so I can perform some barbaric ritual and drag my son out to a tree stump and chop his foreskin off hahahahahaha (joke) |

Yeah, where I am from I don't know of any guys who have had it done. It would definitely be a talking point. It is just another pointless religous procedure isn't it?
Hygiene shouldn't be an issue if you clean properly. |

The scary thing is that Koreans don't do it to a newborn, they do it as the boy approaches puberty psy-cho-logical stress!

There omkara, you got a woman's perspective, which you asked for.
Do it or don't do it. It's not really a big deal, is it? Why do you care so much what others do? You guys should really indicate where you're coming from. There's a serious lack of personal experience being shared here.
I've leave this thread to you guys. Out. |

Circumcision is meant to be more sanitary as bacteria easily develop under the foreskin leading to infection should it not be kept clean regularly. This is what Americans have claimed, but I'm sure man lived for thousands of years with foreskin. It very well might had been a health problem for those not adequately cleaning it.
I know the USA has been doing it for many years, what other countries practice circumcision? |
