If I "pull a runner" the day after I get paid, at least I got paid.
If I give a month's notice will they be nice and pay me everything they
owe me and or rip me off for a months pay and I'll have taught for them
for a month for free? What do you think?

98% of the time you simply *cannot* leave a hagwon mid-contract on polite terms. If you don't want to work in Korea again, run. It's just the nature of the beast. |

I say give the notice you signed your name to. If you signed a contract that says you will give 30 days notice, then that's what I would give. |

You are the best person to answer whether they will rip you off or not. We have no background knowledge of where you work. Have they demonstrated qualities that would lead you to believe they would not pay you? Do they appear to have been honorable so far?
If anyone gives me 30 days notice, I always pay them what they are owed. |

I've heard that a good recruiter can negotiate with your school and help you change jobs without a lot of animosity. True? |

I don't see it as an ethical responsibility issue.
The deciding factor is whether you want to still work in Korea in the future.
If the answer is no, then you have nothing to lose by running if you think your situation is serious enough to warrant that.
But if you do want to work in Korea again, it becomes a much more complex assessment you have to make - as fleeing would jeopardise a future visa from being issued anytime soon. |

Uh, if you can trust a recruiter that much, then why did that recruiter place you in a bad school in the first place? |

I did a runner from a lying hogwart owner after 5 days and was working again here about 18 months later. I could have come back to another job 18 DAYS later if I would have wanted. I probably would have had to pay for a plane ticket, but I would have been working. |

If you provide proper notice, there is a high chance that you will not receive your full salary due to 'unforseen expenses and punishments' that will be imposed on you due to your 'burdeoning' expenses that force your employer to seek a replacement.
It's very common for a person to give notice and after 1 month end up receiving nothing after airfare, recruitment fees & other misc expenses are tallied against you. It doesn't matter if it's rational or not, when people are angry they make arbitrary decisions which will make them feel better, and leaves you in a nearly impossible situation.
My suggestion is simple, receive your full pay and give notice that you are leaving. If he wishes you to stay, you will require your salary paid on a daily basis instead of at the end of the month. If he refuses, simply go home, pack up your things & leave. You can easily find work (even though there is a huge unemployment in the world market) easily enough within a few weeks time.
Remember, you boss is looking out for HIS interests as you are for yours. The moment they are no longer mutually beneficial, you will be let go regardless of how much you worked for him.
