With Texas failing to cover, Tech losing to Ole Miss, would anyone be surprised if Florida stomped on Oklahoma. Starting to think these big XII offenses are not all they cracked up to be. |

Boo....phukcing....hoo.
They still one. The beat Ohio State, which is not a pushover team. But, yoiu forgot to mention that Missouri won.
The only scandal from the Big 12 is Texas NOT being in the national championship game.

It was hard for Texas to cover the spread. Ohio State's defense was really good this year. For example, in the USC game, the scoreboard made Ohio State's D look worse than it really was, with Rey Maualuga doing his thing and all:

I like Florida's defense better than Oklahoma's, but I don't think either team will have a hard time putting points on the board. I'm expecting a high-scoring game:
Oklahoma 38
Florida 35 |

Oh I'm not taking anything away from Texas, I'm just wondering if these results are an indicator of anything for the nat. champ game. I personally think Florida will roll. I'd loved to have seen Florida/USC.
It is a scandal that Texas isn't in the big game but the same could be said for Oklahoma if they didn't make it. Someone had to lose out.
BTW I think Missouri also failed to cover a prettyy large spread. |

Nah I watched that USC game and I thought USC could have done more damage..but its a matter of opinion. OSU do have a good D but Texas were supposed to be a juggernaught.
I expect Florida to win going away. |

the perception is growing that the Big 12 may have been overhyped this fall. Oregon blows past Oklahoma State in the second half of the Holiday Bowl. Texas Tech cant keep up with Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl. Even Texas pulsating win over Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl fell short of expectations in many peoples minds. The Big 12 needed the Horns to dispose of the Buckeyes much the way USC did way back in September. It didnt happen. If not for the heroics of Colt McCoy and Quan Cosby, three of the Souths ranked teams would have imploded. None played up to the oddsmakers measuring stick

Exactly. The Big 12 isn't as "mighty" as people believed. The High Octane offenses that would obliterate teams from other BCS conferences isn't there.
Is Texas and the Big 12's offense was so potent, then why didn't Texas Tech or Texas score over 40 points?
The OU-UF game is going to be the final say. Right now, I'd put all my money on UF making OU look like a Pop Warner team. |

After watching Utah open a can of whoopass on Bama and thump them a lot worse than the final score indicated, I would take them against anybody right now. |

Maybe I'm missing what your driving at? I believe Pkang was referencing the fact that the big 12 didnt put up the same lofty totals against any non-big 12 team with a heartbeat. Sure the Big 12 does have some very good offenses, but what people are driving at is that their contrastingly poor defenses really run the offensive numbers up. Take for example that Ole Miss scored more on TTech then they did against any other BCS team. Or from another angle Texas scored the least number of points of the year against its only real non Big 12 challenge.
All that aside, the big 10 are the ones really stinking it up with a 1-6 record. |

As a Tennessee fan, this bowl season is like the Twilight Zone.
First of all, it's a shock that Tennessee didn't play in either the Shitrus Bowl or the Outhouse Bowl in spite of the fact that the Vols sucked ass this year and weren't bowl eligible. It would not surprise me in the least if there were Vol fans who actually drove to central Florida and ended up wondering where the phuck our football team was.
Kentucky & Vandy each winning bowl games and Spurrier & Saban both losing theirs is a shock for any Vol. Tennessee kicked Vandy's and Kentucky's asses this year and are 47-1 against them since 1985. Saban kicked Tennessee's ass with his Bama team the same way he always does, especially serving us the most embarrassing moment in UT history when his LSU team immortalized this moment http://luluandjunior.com/about.php on national TV. Spurrier took it to our ass with his Cocks this year. Just like he did when he coached the Gators. Just like he did when he coached at Duke. Just like he could if he coached a Little League team and brought them to Knoxville to play us. |

Florida 24- Oklahoma 14
Looks like the previous bowl games were a good indicator. Big XII offenses aren't all the cracked up to be. Good game though, riveting throughout pretty much. |

Well, the numbers don't lie........though they can be misleading.
Oklahoma did not deserve to be in the title game.
Either Utah, Texas or USC should have been there.......not Oaklahoma.
But, teams such as Oklahamo can put up big numbers....its just when they play the real hard teams, is when they run into trouble.
Texas, though may not have had a high scoring game.........they won. And, they beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl. They beat Ohio State at the Horshoe. They beat USC in the national title game. They have now won three BCS games, including a national championship since 2004.
They are for real, folks.

The only thing that is relevant is this year. You beat an ohio state team barely, that got destroyed by USC. Other than that in light of the big XII performance in bowls I'm not seeing anything that would put you above Utah and USC. Florida-USC would be quite a game. |

With only 1 week to prepare, a high powered offense has an edge over a staunch defense.
With a month to prepare, a staunch defense will dismantle high powered offenses. That is why Defense wins championships.
Alabama was physically able to beat Utah, but they weren't mentally prepared. It showed on the field what happens when you don't take your opponent seriously. |
