I am so frustrated! I had a good offer from a school, and turned it down because I got what i thought was a better offer from another school. They liked me, offered me the job, and then the recruiter emails me and says they now want to change the job to 6 days a week for 3.0 mil
I emailed the recruiter back and said i will not work 6 days a week...im not sure if its a deal breaker, but i would still work for them if it was mon-fri only....do u think they will still offer me the job at the original hours?? Other wise i am back to square one in finding a job.... |

You can't really accuse 'dereklee003' of being greedy for taking the better offer. Now if he had orginally accepted the initial offer, but then he reneged on his promise in order to take up the second offer....then yes, that's kind of unethical/greedy.
But he had two offers at the same time, and decided to go with one that was better for him. No greed in that.
Stick to your guns about the 5 day week. Working a 6 day week would be hard, unless you're a workaholic. If the school drops you because of this issue, then it's their fault. It'd be unfortuante but as 'thingscomearoud' said....not the kind of place you'd want to work for. |

The way the OP has worded it, it sounds like they want to force (no choice invovled) him/her to work 6 days a week (for more money). If that is the case, then I'd have to say it doesn't seem right.
Forced overtime is illegal. |

It's shady because they could have just offered a regular 5 day job, and then offer overtime.
They are not only trying to save on overtime pay, but they are trying to use him as 2 teachers. They will cram many students into one class to make up for this lack of teachers. I have been there, I have experienced it.
Bottom line, get your regular full-time schedule, then if there is more work you will agree to it when it comes. Don't commit to what you don't have to. Make it a win-win situation when the time is right. |

They offered the conditions of the job (which the OP originally agreed to), then changed the conditions of the job to something less desirable once the OP turned down his other offers.
Not the first time this has been done. Schools do this knowing you turned down other offers and now you're stuck taking their revised crap offer or remaining unemployed. They count on you caving to do the former to avoid the latter. |

OP, if you want to work for a hagwon, then get the best deal for YOU. Don't accept anything unless it's what you want.
Then, we'll see if the hogwan actually honors the contract. |

Well i would be fine if they would have mentioned the six day schedule up front, but they didnt.
I do think the fact that they want me to work 6 days is not shady, just the way they handled it. But it does seem like a good school. I talked to a teacher there who is just finishing up her year contract and she said its all good..... |

Ask her the same question after she leaves and gets her serverance, flight home, and last month's pay (5 million won at least).
One hagwon had me send them email I sent to potential teachers telling them about the school. I was more surprised at that than the request by the teacher. |
