Hey All.

I booked my ticket to Seoul today, (got a great deal, $700 Toronto - Seoul with one layover in Chicago, including three weeks of travel insurance, just in case). I arrive at Incheon at 9:10pm next Saturday, and have to get to Jeju by Sunday night. I need advice on a cheap place to stay my first night, and an airline to book my flight to Jeju on.

I don't know about a place to stay in Seoul, but you can use Jeju Air or Korean Air to book your flight. Jeju Air is cheaper but they don't have an English website. You can probably just go to Gimpo airport and by the tickets there.

If your flying out from Incheon airport you can stay at the "jimjilbang" at Incheon airport for about 30,000 won. You can use the steamroom, take a bath, then get a private room for this price. I done this its great after a long flight.
Saves you going into Seoul. The journey will take you about 1 and a half hours..
The Jimjilbang is on the bottom floor ask someone where it is at the information desk located outside arrivals when you clear customs.

There are plenty of good cheap Motels in New Airport Town. I recommend the Hub Herb Hotel (ph. +82 32 752 1991). Do a search and contact them if you want to book in advance. They will aslo pick you up and drop you at the airport. There is also $1 bus from the airport to New Airport Town. Ask at information about where it leaves from on the departures floor.(top level) The busses run every 10 minutes.
For a flight to Jeju, firstly a bus or train are both convenient to get to Gimpo, then there are plenty of airlines to choose from. There are plenty of flights and the smaller companes are cheapest. Book it when you arrive and you will soon be in the air.

Sorry I don't have any advice on where to stay when you arrive at Incheon. I know of places in Seoul, but that might be more complicated. There are hotels near Incheon airport, but they may require a taxi/shuttle to get there. Could your recruiter help you find a cheap place to stay?

If you fly from Incheon to Jeju, most likely you'll need to book with Asiana Airlines (http://flyasiana.com) or Korean Air (http://www.koreanair.com/)

Otherwise, you can always take the airport train (3,200 won, I believe) from Incheon Airport to Gimpo Airport (which handles more domestic travel in Korea). At Gimpo, you'll have a choice of at least 4 different airlines all flying to Jeju. They have regular flights, and you can just show up at the airport and get a ticket for that day, especially if you get there in the morning or early afternoon.

You also don't get an assigned seat, but rather it's a first-come first-choice of seats in a given section. They're nice to fly with. I think they are a subsidiary of Korean Air.

Also, there's Jeju-Air (http://www.jejuair.net)
The planes are a bit smaller, but they're cheaper as well.

Two other major airlines are Korean Air and Asiana . They're good, but also a bit more expensive.

One thing to look into would be the weight restrictions on domestic flights. If you haven't book a ticket that includes the flight to Jeju, they might hold you to the domestic weight allowance.

I decided on a flight, there's a flight with Asiana the morning after I arrive, but I can't book on the American site because I'm not American, nor can I book on the Korean English site because I don't have a registration number, so my recruiter is going to book my flight for me. It's a little more expensive than most, but I won't have to change airports, which is a big help when I'm traveling with all my worldly belongings. I might have to pay a huge baggage fee of some sort, but I generally pack light, I moved to Europe for a year on 13Kg of luggage... I just don't own a lot of stuff. I can't find anything specific about domestic flight allowance for Asiana, but I think it's 20kg

I found this, that suggests not only that the Incheon airport jimjilbang is for both men and women, but also that it may be closed... has anyone been there since October?
