I spotted a tallboy of Carlsberg at my local Emart last week and was pretty surprised. I've never seen it before in any bar here, let alone a department store so I picked up a pair. This week they've got 6-packs.
I also spotted another Danish beer, Harboe, at the Lotte mart which I've also never seen here before. It's a red beer, and looked interesting so I picked a few up but have yet to try them.

What new or interesting beers have you spotted or tried recently?

I bought some Carlsberg yesterday too. It's amazing what is swill at home tastes like heaven here.

Is it brewed locally or from Denmark?

Carlsberg was one of the very first, if not the first foreign beer sold in modern Korea. It isn't new on the scene, it's just reappeared.

jongno guru is right. believe it or not, carlsberg is probably the most popular beer in the world. by the way, it's swill in the us and canada because its brewed locally. same problem with pilsner urquell. trust me, carlsberg is a hell of a lot better in denmark. tuborg is better though.

Pilsner Urquell is great in the Czech Republic, costs about 1000won per pint there. Over here in WA bar's and the like it's about 8000won per bottle, ridiculous.

Isnt Heineken the most popular beer? can you get that in Korea?

I am not in Korea yet, so forgive my ignorance...

Can you not find Western beer? What about in Japan?

I am from Portland.. and if you know anything about beer and arnt Canadian, you know where good beer comes from....

Sorry about the Canada jab, I love Canada... its just that every time I go I get a douche lecture from some drunk Cunuck preaching their watery beer over the US watery beer... When they both suck and are owned by Belgium and South Africa...

I'd argue that American craft beers are the best in the world- but it's all a matter of preference. I happen to prefer hoppy beer.

In terms of what beer is the most drank in the world, the answer may surprise you.

Calsberg has always been here. Just not in emart I guess..
I rememeber drinking it 10 years ago here,
some bars will have it some wont..

if you want foreign beers you should take a look at haddon market or hannam market they have beers which are not even sold locally in bars..
