These places will haggle a bit over prices. I have saved literally $50 on a $150 purchase by telling them it was too expensive. Wait for them to take out their caluculator and let the bargaining begin.

The communication barrier was epic to begin with. Haggling was out of the question. Especially after I had to spend 40 minutes straightening out my CC company because they didn't expect me to be making big electronics purchases in Japan.
