How? He strongly defended the country's right to exist and challenged Holocaust denial.

Agreed.

OH, and do people know that under the Obama administration, the states have sold their land rights to the Federal government?

But credit where credit is due. He is the first American president to admit to this "conspiracy theory:"
Quote:
In the middle of the Cold War, the United States played a role in the overthrow of a democratically-elected Iranian government.

Yes, I was quite surprised. A much more mature approach than the Bush crowd. I must say I'm somewhat impressed with Obama - more than I expected.

Yes, I am impressed that he can actually string together coherent sentences also. But, so what? As he has already demonstrated, he doesn't walk the walk.

To paraphrase mises, BO is saying,
"I'll just keep doing what Bush did and give some nice speeches."

Yeah, I listened to half the speech then decided I've heard it all before, just less eloquently Smile.

Blah blah blah. Actions speak louder than words. The speech was overrated. So he told us all what we already know. Perhaps no other President before him has said such things (such as the Iran incident that bacasper noted). Big whoop.

Now if his actions reflect his speech, then I'll be impressed.

And if I am a skeptic, you can be damned well sure the Arab world is too.

Melanie Phillips DESTROYS Obama!

Uh? Here are some statistics of the number and percentage of Muslims in various countries:

Indonesia: 207,105,000 (88.2%);
Pakistan: 167,430,801 (95%);
India: 156,254,615 (13.4%);
Turkey: 70,800,000 (99%);
Egypt: 70,530,237 (90%);
Nigeria: 64,385,994 (45%);
Iran: 64,089,571 (98%);
Algeria: 32,999,883 (99%);
Morocco: 32,300,410 (99%);
Afghanistan: 31,571,023 (99%)
Saudi Arabia: 26,417,599 (100%)
USA: 4,558,068 (1.5%)

Just what planet is this US President on? Or is this not a statement but an aspiration?

I think he's missing what the objective of Obama's speech was, it wasn't specific policy. The speech was obviously far more than 'entertainment'. But nice to hear an Egyptian voice on it.

He may well have made a mistake with that comment but it was hardly the lynch-pin of his speech/argument.

If you include the "56 States" that Obama campaigned in, then I guess we'd the largest Muslim country.

See "The Speech"

I liked these parts:
Quote:
The speech was everything was expected and more. The guy achieved his goals and executed it effectively and brilliantly. It was big on comfort and platitudes, and short on substance, but really, what does one expect other than that from an Obama speech?If you are going to see Obama, you are going to watch an expert showman. Just don't expect much beyond entertainment.

and
Quote:
I am still waiting for a serious difference between him and Bush on the War on Terror. I mean, he said he will pull the troops out by 2012 and will close Gunatanmo some time later. So, if Gitmo ain't closed, detainees are still getting extradited, The troops are still in Iraq and Afghanistan, what exactly changed here? And how come people are all positive over this now? Wasn't that what Bush used to say? Now it's wise and good? WTF?

How so? The US is #12 out of almost 200. If you placed twelfth in a race of 200 you'd be one of the best runners, and India (twelfth place in terms of nominal GDP) has one of the largest economies in the world.

by saying those things, wasn't he pointing to america being a land where everyone is free to worship any religion they like, or not to worship at all if that is their fancy?
and anyway the u.s. is not a christian nation. and he did not say the u.s. was one of the largest muslim countries. there is a difference between saying a country has a sizable muslim population and saying the country itself is muslim.
you are consistently this boards laziest poster.
