Copyright laws are in no way ethically compelling. I'll configure my computer however I like, and any law that says I can't do that is a law I won't follow; they have no right to tell me what I can or can't do with my own physical property. These massive industries may have enough lobbying power to get the law written the way they want, but that doesn't make them right.
I wouldn't have bought their over-priced CDs even if I couldn't have pirated the music anyway, so it's not even a financial loss for them. |
