looks like they are bringing in fresh young grads at cheap prices. my area had all 40 + teachers but all the relacements have been 22.

Sorry to hear about your rejection. Your problem might be that you ask too many questions about your job before you get hired. I was having the same problem before I got offered a contract. It seems that if you are inquisitive, that could be a problem, they see you as "picky" and no-one wants to hire a "picky" teacher. It's best to just be very friendly and ask questions later.

It really is too bad for teachers who have been here for years but lack proper references are passed on for newbies fresh out of college with no work experience that possess reference letters from their professors; which are so easy to obtain when you�re in college.

It seems that the new EPIK regulations benefit newbies with no experience in Korea and for those lucky enough with reference letters from previous schools where they had a good co-teacher relationship. Unfortunately, some Korean school co-teachers have given unfavorable references for their NSTs for reasons other than teaching. More often a bad reference from a co-teacher or school is due to not renewing one�s contact.

Your resume looks fine, and if I were you, I'd go and apply at the local school boards and EPIK offices. I don't think that you have anything to lose by doing so. Just keep everything that is questionable or negative out of your application.

I think its about supply and demand. 3 years ago, I sent out 4 cv's and I had 4 job offers at the end of the week.
2 years ago I applied to EPIC and told them if I didn't get the city I wanted, then I would walk out on them. I had no problems there.
My feeling now are it is still possible to find a job but its going to require a bit more work.

I was denied by epik when I applied. A little about myself, certified teacher in three states (Texas, Colorado, and Arizona.) 11 years experience. Maybe you did what I did and ask too many questions, also probably had tattoos visible. I was applying because I thought it would be fun overseas for a year or two, but evidently the Global Economic Storm has made it so it would not benefit me at all. I read this board every day on my off periods and get a kick out of it. Evidently I did not fit the requirements of working in a PS over in Korea. I just want to know how else I can figure out all the benefits of kimchi if I am not there. waaaaaaaaaaaa. lol
