Fulham are awesome.
I wonder if Roy Hodgson will be fancied for the Liverpool job? |

Doubt it.
He's undoubtedly done a cracking job at Fulham but they'll go for another high-profile boss who has little understanding of the transfer market/the EPL. |

Sacking Rafa would be a travesty. Liverpool aren't that big of a club. Two Champions League medals ain't bad. He has done well with the resources he was given. Considering the members of the board are all nut jobs at Anfield.
Hopefully they ground share with Everton and build a 120,000 seat Goodison/Anfield 2.
Gotta feel sorry for Sparky. Man City will never be top 4 if they act rashly like this. |

You think? He's had ample resources. He's spent millions on players that simply aren't of the quality for a top 4 side (Kyrgiakos, anyone? I'm a Rangers fan and I couldn't believe that a player that wasn't really of the standard to play in the SPL was signing for Liverpool). Liverpool are a big enough club that they should be challenging for the league year in year out. Besides last season, they haven't really been close enough during his tenure. This season has been unbelievable for them in Europe. The only time I've seen such gutless displays in Europe by a British team was any one of the last few seasons competitors from Scotland.
Never happen. There's too much rivalry between them for this to work properly.
I think it's farcical that City sacked Hughes. He was on target for the position in the league that was agreed with the chairman before the start of the season. He was still in with a shot of winning at least one trophy. There's no way that Mancini will come in and do a better job. City are at least a couple of seasons away from challenging. When Abramovich came in to Chelsea, there were at least 3 or 4 players there at the club that provided (and still do) the back bone of the team. Hughes didn't have that luxury. He's a good manager. He's proved that with Wales, at Blackburn, and he did do a decent job at City. I've no doubt he won't be out of the game for long. |

I'm trying to find the figures, but I'm 90% sure Liverpool have one of the lower budgets over the past 5 years. Rafa buys mostly cheap 6/10 players and tries to turn them into 8/10 players. He succeeded with Kuyt, Benayoun, Mascherano, Riera. There have been plenty of failures using this strategy, though. He made a profit on Sissoko. I will admit there is a lot of dross in the squad and basically no depth beyond the first team.

Would be cool if they did, though. It works well in Milan.

Haha, typical overly sensitive Liverpool fan. You took one comment out of context, amongst dozens of perfectly cogent statements I made, and tried to claim I know nothing about Football. Good one.
Besides, I was talking comparatively. Sure, Liverpool have a great history and have punched above their weight in the Champions League this decade but in terms of squad, stadium and fans they are really no better than what Newcastle were at the start of last season. The 'Pool could very easily go the way of Newcastle next decade. More so than any of the other top four. |

Rusty, i really like you and your posts, but you're way off with some of the things you say.
120,000 seater stadium? Well that would never happen for two reasons
A) cost
B) they wouldnt fill it.
Old trafford has been littered with empty seats this season, the figures are WAY down on what they have been, but even the figures dont show the true story, as many season ticket holders simply choose not to attend every game that they are forced to buy tickets for under the automatic cup scheme.
If united cant fill 76,000 week in week out, how do you expect a "not big club" like Liverpool to sell out 120,000?
Also, as a United fan who lives in Manchester and shares a territorial rivalry with Liverpool, i can tell you that they are indeed, a big club, in fact, one of the biggest and most widely supported in the world.
Newcastle also, in terms of stadium and especially fans (who i believe are some of the best) are a truly massive club, and much bigger than the majority of premier league teams, all the more reason why them getting relegated was such big news.
Before you start making patronising comments to other posters about football and accusing people of being Liverpool fans you should probably take a step back and think maybe if you are in the wrong, The poster you jumped on is clearly a spurs fan as evidenced in his avatar, perhaps increase your knowledge of the game before you ridicule others of their "perceived lack of".
With regards to Liverpools spending, you're way off. They have a net spend that is much greater than utd , heres the figures with the source (a well respected broadsheet newspaper called "the times")
2004-2009
liverpool - 122 mill spend
utd - 27 mill spend
chelsea = 187 mill spend
arsenal 27 mill profit

Dont buy into the excuse that Liverpool dont spend money.
Rafa is simply a poor manager, both tactically and with regards to transfer dealings.
As i said at the start, I like you Rusty, but i cant stand to see Utd fans coming out with inaccurate stuff and berating other peoples opinions if they cant back it up. All utd fans get banded into the category of being clueless just because of the team they support, not all fans are like that. |
