First you find the wonder. All those great posts. You can't get enough. The crazy weigukin; all the different wondeful stories.
And then you see the pattern develop. The same questions and answers again and again. Any genuine original post eventually devolves into a spatter between two or three posters and the original inertia of the post is lost and then the post is either locked or deleted.
The people that shouldn't post do and those who should don't.
You begin to realize that the posters on here are the same people you would have nothing to do with if you saw them on the street.
You start to wonder why you are posting here in the first place.
You begin to realize that it's a waste of time and your resources should be spent elsewhere. Yet you continue to post.
Eventually though, you get a life or move on and stop posting altogether.
I love Dave's |

So by your logic, we should all feel the same, which means that we WOULD, if we feel so inclined, get on famously IRL.
I do agree with the first bit of your post though... it really was like that.
But my pressing question is - why are YOU still posting. Are you saying that you have yet to find a life? |

You hit the nail on the head. Also, as pathetic as this may sound, a main reason I post is to keep my writing skills sharp. |

You should really work on writing in paragraphs. |

| I can't stand those posters who seem to post anything, no matter how irrelevant. I'm glad I'm not one of them. |

I am at this stage.
I shouldn't be here posting but I'm in a 'dog wash' mode,
and I'll do anything to not do the thing that has to be done. |

If nothing else, it's a good place to post my karaoke videos ...

And if I don't find a job (at age 60) within the next two weeks (or marry a Korean) I'll have to leave the country I've called home for the last eight years - so this video can be something for forum members (especially veterans) to remember me by ... |

When I was 24, I felt obligated to argue about literally everything everything I heard or read from others.
I don't any more, what a relief....... |

I began posting here when I first learned about Dave's back in 1999. At that time, I was working at a hagwon and I used Dave's as a way to network with others who teach ESL (back then, there were fewer of us than there are now).
I guess I post to keep in touch with my roots as an ESL teacher since I don't have contact with people who teach English on a normal basis like I used to.
As for not having anything to do with people on here if I met them in real life~ I am generally sociable and friendly and I have met many posters in real life, especially during the Dave's meet-ups; None of them had anything bad to say about me (granted, they were the ones who confess their forum names- not me ) |

That is truly lousy behaviour. I work with a 20 something and it is always an argument. Not based on logic or fact but emotion. Y doesn't like X because it feels wrong. But Y doesn't know or want to fix it. So , yep Y will then cast dispersion but refuse to be held accountable. Laziness at it's finest.

Hey Rteacher...best of luck in the coming weeks.
Really sucks to be in that kind of position...though I am sure you will handle it well...regardless of the the outcome.
Keep the faith. |

If you've been here continuously for 3 straight years, this might come in handy for you;

Don't do this. Why get stuck in a loveless marriage for the sake of staying here? |
