| Ain't nothing like the good ol'days. So many great people! Sam Cooke. Cab Calloway. They could all sing and dance it up. |

| Cab Calloway is going back a bit too far for me, but 60s motown and 70s jazz funk definitely ... Aretha ... Stevie Wonder ... Herbie Hancock ... Miles Davis ... Gil Scott Heron ... I could go on. Emotive, funky music. |

Oh yes, Sam Cooke, sing it. Loves it, I do. And Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse certainly both hold their own (they might owe a LOT of it to their shared back-up band.
I stumbled on this great series of re-releases from small labels across the States, mostly from the early 70s, I think, called Eccentric Soul. Well worth checking out. And, if I can plug a friend, there's a great singer from Toronto named Treasa Levasseur who taps into a bit of a Stax vibe. |

Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard. My goodness, talk about some beauty.
Motown was pop to perfection. Good music, Superlative vocals, style, beauty, performance.
Todays R&B stars have nothing on the Motown girls, save Monica circa 'Angel of Mine' and 'Street Symphony'. |

The Eccentric Soul stuff is just amazing, it's like motown but more interesting to listen to. The guru turned me on to Louis Prima a while back, and he's worth checking out, especially if you already like Cab Calloway. |
