Sometimes I get so freaked out when I have to decide something. I mean I shake and worry and can't ever really make up my mind. It is like a disability or something. I worry about my future all the time. Does anyone else have this kind of problem? |

Ah, that problem's not too hard to cure. Here's what you do: find yourself a place where you can decide two things, one first, and one later. A fork in a road or something. Now imagine that you're trying to decide where to go. Left or right? First take one road, let's go left. You go left a ways, thinking all the while about the decision you made. Then go back to the fork in the road and this time decide to go right, all the while thinking about the decision made this time. Then go back to the fork in the road once again. Think about both decisions and realize that they were good decisions because you made them.
They are not good decisions because they are good decisions, they are made good by the fact that you made them. Think about that. And then think about how going either way would have been fine. You didn't make the decision to jump off the side of a hill, you made a reasonable decision to go down a path that you knew would be safe. That's a good decision because it's yours.
Try that a few more times, each time thinking about what makes a decision a decision, and the fact that everything you decide to do is reasonable to a certain extent, and is always in your own interests. If you realize that it will be much easier to make other decisions as well. |
