First, dont PM me.

Second if this doesnt shut up most of the people trying to rip someone off when they sell their barely used, almost perfect, practically brand new, real HD flatscreen I dont know what will.

42 HD PDP Samsung Pavv 766,000 W

42 HD PDP LG Xcanvas 768,000 W

Both 1080p and all the other little codes that TV techies want.
These are the prices in the store, not some G-market BS link where the prices are all out of wack anyway.

Brand new and still in its pretty box at any Lotte Mart near you.
Go out and buy a new TV, larger, newer, and better than almost anyone is selling online.
Dont listen to the creeps who just want to pass on the fact they got terribly ripped off in Yongsan, or whatever electronics store they went to.

actually I'm not sure that these TVs are 1080, 720 maybe, which I guess is good enough for most.

You're right though, there are some great TV deals on since the launch of the new LED TVs.

The little card said 1080p, so unless the clerk mixed up the numbers, thats what you get. I didnt bother to write down the model numbers, but perhaps I should have.

Anything less than 50" you won't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p. So, it should be good enough for everyone. Maybe it'll make some people feel better knowing they have a 1080p set when they get no added benefit.

Those tvs are only 1024x768 resolution IE 720p, but so are any other plasmas being sold on here. A full definition 1920x1080 plasma, of the same size, is going to be much more expensive than the ones you listed. While a full definition LCD will only be slightly more expensive, probably around 1.2-1.4 million depending on where you buy it etc.

I recently sold a very good 720p quality plasma on these boards, and upgraded to a full definition LCD, and let me say that the picture difference is significant. Keep in mind though, that in order to notice any difference you have to have native 1080p source material. If I play a PS3 game like Little Big Planet which doesn't support 1080p the difference is pretty small, but if I play God of War 3 or Final Fantasy 13 the difference is pretty impressive.

Just thought I would help clear things up. I didn't really understand much about this until I did some research recently.

The human eye can not discern the difference between 1080p and 720p at 50" screens and lower unless you are literally sitting less than 5 feet from the TV. Then you may spot 1 blade of grass that is slightly sharper than the rest.

Interesting article, but the article doesn't say that the human eye cannot discern any difference, it just says that based on screen size and viewing distance you may not be recieving the full benefit. True you may not notice the -full- benefit on a 42" screen if you sit more than 9 feet away fromit, but you will still notice a significant difference. Experiment with your game system settings on 480,720 and 1080 (making sure your source material is actually native 1080). I guarantee you will be able to tell the difference of the three, it will just be less noticable the farther away you sit.

This article has got my attention though. I usually sit pretty close to my TV (wife makes me use headphones), so according to that article I can notice the full benefit of 1080p.I'll play with my PS3 and new tv regarding resolution output and distance and get back with my opinion.

While that may be true, there are reasons that someone would want a 1080p TV set. One reason is if you are using the TV as a computer monitor. I find a resolution of 1366 x 768 to be almost unusable as a computer desktop. I like to have many windows open at the same time and visible, not overlapped. Not everybody feels this way, but many do (I have 3 24" monitors at 1920 x 1200, so I'm clearly not in the norm).

Another reason someone might want 1080p resolution is because they have 1080p Blu-Ray videos (or other 1080p videos). I believe that the article is saying a person watching 1080p encoded videos on a 1080p resolution TV will not see more detail than a person watching 720p encoded videos on a 720p resolution TV. However, if you are watching 1080p encoded videos on a 720p TV, the TV will have to scale the images, resulting in a loss of quality. The best image quality will always be seen when viewing content at its native resolution.

That brings me to one of my pet peeves regarding TVs. Even 720p televisions aren't really 720p. 720p is 1280 x 720. Now, "720p" televisions are almost all 1366 x 768 panels. As a result, even when watching 720p content the TV will have to scale the content to fit the screen.

So, since there is almost NO content that fits the native resolution of "720p" televisions, but there is a lot of content that matches the native resolution of 1080p televisions, I have to conclude that 1080p TVs are better.

BUT, that is just my opinion. And as they say, "opinions are like..." (fill in the rest, I'm sure the overzealous mods here would take issue with that saying).

Wow! Just noticed that according to the op, these screens are both 42 feet large. I'm sure that will make a big difference in your resolution debate. That is a better deal than anyone has posted on Daves!

I just bought a 42" PDP HDTV about a month ago. I actually got it from GMarket instead of the electronics market or any other mart. I only paid about 650K or 700K for it. With delivery. I understand and agree with the OP. I would rather buy from a foreign teacher just to help them get some of their investment back but there is no way that they can expect someone to pay a million or more for the same TV that we can buy for almost half that, brand new with (nearly) free delivery.

I understand that the sellers probably paid a lot of money for their TVs but the unfortunate (for them) truth is just that the prices of TVs have really come down. They have to eat the price. No one should pay a million or even 700K for a used 42" HDTV. Sorry guys.

Forgot to hit the shift key again, one thing a quick filter in MS Word dont fix. Oh well.
Dont worry Your god sends people to hell for less.
I'll be sure to see you here.

Oh hey is that you? /wave

Also the person above me got it exactly right.
I would rather buy from someone who Has to leave their expensive possessions behind, but dont expect the next guy to pay for your F'up. That's plain sad and although plenty do it in their own country, shouldnt you be nicer to the person who has to follow you through the grinder?

Oh, well said my piece. Good luck to those who deserve it.
