What happens on the pirate coast stays on the pirate coast.

It's like Vegas, except instead of Poker there's piracy, and instead of Roulette there're Russians powning your arse.

Probably vodka'd to death...

I guess they'll be staying away from Russian ships from now on. No payoffs, just a bullet to the back of the head. I believe the Chinese do something similar.

What does Korea do when their ships are hijacked?

I love the way that the Russians handle situations like this. They don't give a crap about being PC. They don't care about violating a criminal's rights. They don't have lawyers running up to protect the poor, innocent pirates. I love the whole "imperfection in the law" and that they were "released." Finally, a country that has some balls. The only way you deal with witless, brain dead morons that want to harm you is to hit them even harder. And now there are 10 less such "people" in the world. Too bad we can't recruite some Russians to "release" some hagwon owners. That would be cool.

What does Korea do? Oh, they pay the ransom and help encourage future behavior. Yeah, real smart there, Korea. Keep paying that ransom. I know that if I saw a Korean ship out there, that would be my number 1 target. Even moreso that a French ship.

It's frontier justice, baby. Those pirates would have faced much more terrifying fates a century ago. Getting Vodka'd to death in Las Piratas is a pretty good gig, if you ask me.

After all, no one made them walk the plank. They made the conscious decision to commit a capital offense.

State-sanctioned murder.
Victimisation of third world people,- they matter a lot less than anyone else I guess. particularly when their nation has no government.

If the Russians were confident in their right to kill the pirates, they would have done it in full view of third parties, or at the very least, they wouldn't have lied about it.

And yes, the first time I heard this news, I snickered, too. But then I thought about it a little bit. And I realized that very natural reaction shouldn't prevent suspicion about the incident.

I take it back. Replace "hagwon owners" with "apologists." More palatable?

Oh, and the "victimisation" of 3rd world people should be amended to 3rd world criminals. World of difference there. Like the Russians, I'm not into the whole PC, feel good about everyone mentality. I hope the Russians do it many, many more times and I hope that some other countries will actually show a little intestinal fortitude when dealing with pirate scum.
