Is it realistically possible to finish a 100hr online TESOL class in a few weeks? My friend took an in class one and finished it in 8 classes. I haven't enrolled in one yet but I need to finish it FAST since I'm conducting interviews with recruiters and employers. Thanks for your help guys!

I finished a 100 hour online TEFL course in seven days.

I have been teaching for quite a few years, so that did help some of the stuff go faster, but most of it was based in common sense.

Have you taught before? If you haven't, you might consider going through it a little bit slower and making sure that you learn whatever you can from your course. As long as you are enrolled in a course, most recruiters/schools will give you a little bit of time to finish it up. You don't need to have your certificate in hand before you apply.

Actually I'm hoping to do the same before my contract renewal comes up in a couple of months.

Any suggestions as to the best online course and how long it would take?

I guess it depends on if you actually have pride in your work. If you want you can take a cheap course($150) and get the answers from someone else. If you actually think you might try to learn something and or try to take pride in your work, you can do a real course that requires at least 2-3 weeks(hitting it hard) to a couple of months(leisurely). Mine is $330 and has a fair amount of work to do, I will read everything, write competent essays and take my time.

It's all about personal choice.

I just finished my LAST lesson. And I'll be getting the certificate in the mail soon. But I enrolled in early May. I took my time digesting the material, most of which is common sense, but the tutor tends to only release 2 units at a time, which can suck if you complete them before the weekend and want to get more over the weekend to complete. It wasn't until that tutor left for unknown reasons when I got another tutor who released 4-5 at a time and that made the corrections and submissions go quickly.

Reasonably at a leisurely pace, 4-6 weeks.

I did the first three units in February of '09 and finished the final nine units in three days back in March of this year, right before contract renewable. It was with some Mickey Mouse outfit called Korea Education Incorporated. I just copy and pasted the course material into the test form, then jumbled it around. I got straight A's and it only cost about $100US. Glorified degree mill in the extreme.

Having said that, I did learn some stuff I didn't know, and it confirmed some suspicions I already held.

Depends on how dedicated you are at finishing the course.

I'm going to finish mine in about 2 weeks. Started it 2 weeks ago...so it's going to take me a month to complete. I've worked on one module (my course is separated into "modules," but they're the same as units) every 2 days, and each module consists of a quiz portion and an essay portion. So obviously, day 1 = quiz. Day 2 = essay. Also, I haven't been working on the course during the weekends.

If you set up a schedule for yourself (like I have), and if it works for you, then finishing the course shouldn't be a problem. Don't need to follow my schedule, obviously, cause your course will probably be different. But just do what works for you.

Also, I would recommend teflonline.com as well. That's the course I'm taking, and it's really straightforward. Like I said, it's made up of modules (12 of them), and each module's assignment is: one quiz + 2 essays. Also, I believe at the end there's a final (but I'm not sure about this). Sound like a lot, but it's not really. And there isn't a minimum number of words for the essays. The grader/tutor will just read it and look to see if you have covered the material well enough. Oh, and the quizzes are seriously a breeze. The best thing though is you will receive your certificate immediately after you finish the course. That's def a bonus

And also, you get enrolled in a bonus, completely separate English-grammar course for free upon registering for tefonline. This class literally only took me one day to complete, as it only has a final, and you also get a completely separate English-grammar cert when you complete the course. And yes, you receive the grammar cert immediately after you complete the course. So teflonline is definitely the way to go. Only catch? It's kind of expensive (~$340).

Through ITTT I finsihed their online 100 course in 2 days, with a combined effort of maybe 2hrs. Its a joke, dont bother reading anything, google the answers, copy and paste. Half of my answers were straight from wikipedia, and the evaluater didn't care at all.
