Not drinking
I only snore if I have been drinking, no drinking no snoring = happy girlfriend (equals bored me) |
Alcohol definitely affects it. My ex-wife could tell if I had even one beer in the middle of the afternoon just by how I snored at night. |
Nope, he doesn't drink very often. Could it perhaps be weight gain? He has put on around 25 lbs in the past year. |

Weight gain will increase snoring. So do sleeping pills, decongestants, drinking and sleeping on your back. You can put a wood block under the head of the bed to elevate it 5 inches. |

You didn't get me......this is the answer!! All the wood block does is elevate the head of the bed, thereby elevating the sleeper's head! An elevated head should help with snoring. |

1. Did he have this problem before he met you?
2. Has he ever had a nose injury?
My dad has a horrible snoring problem. He's used those breath-right strips and they didn't help. |

That's what I wanted to know, thank you. I didn't know about the elevated thing being beneficial. |

Number one is rather difficult to answer as I'd have to ask his exes in New Zealand. As for the second question, yes I assume he has on a number of occasions as he did traditional boxing and kickboxing. |

my wife used to give me elbows every night so one day I spent a couple hours on google and found a simple solution:
2 pillows under my head at night.
now, no more elbows |

If he only snores when he's on his back you can sew a pocket onto the back of an old tshirt and put a tennis ball in it. This will train him to sleep on his stomach or side.
Korean sleeping pills contain decongestants which relax the throat and cause snoring. If he takes them you might have him try melatonin.
I found all of these things help a little. Never had any luck with nose strips, snoring pills and sprays etc. Losing weight helped the most. I'm still forced to sleep on the couch after I've been drinking. |

I'll keep things to the point:
1) The man in my bed snores. LOUDLY.
2) It has caused arguments and injuries (elbowing and kicking him in an attempt to stop the snoring).
3) Sleep with earplugs. Fail.
4) Had one like this a few years ago but simply got up and went home when the snoring began. This one is for keeps though so I can't go anywhere.
Any advice (especially the type that will make me laugh) is welcome! |
He needs an operation to remove loose tissue up his nose that vibrates when he breathes in and out. |

Kind of extreme and I heard not always successful, but I know people will go to extremes to get a good night's sleep.
The nose strips do not work for me, but I know some people swear by them.
Quick story- Years ago when my niece was little she started having bad nightmares for like 3 or 4 nights in a row. She said she kept dreaming of a big cow mooing and coming after her. They finally figured out it was her father(my brother) snoring away in the next room that was causing it. We all had a good laugh about that.
Unfortunately, snoring runs in my family-my father, my 3 brothers, and I all suffer from it. Actually, our spouses suffer from it worse than we do. I never even know that I snore unless my wife tells me. |

That's a rather novel idea! I think I shall try it, thanks. [/quote] |

Fantastic...so this is going to cause nightmares for our future kids! |
