If there aren't any other foreigners to mix and mingle with,
how about Koreans?

If you like kids, go to the library and study the easiest kiddy books.
Some kids like for adults to read those kiddy books to.

Or enroll as a student in one of the hagweons--music, self-defense, a third language, anything you're interested in.

Or volunteer someplace.
If there is an orphanage close by, then there are children craving for adult attention close by.

OP - while I cant offer any practical advice on what do except that you should pursue your hobbies more until you meet people, I admire that you put yourself out like this and made this post. A lot of people would have let their pride get in the way and not have done that. (i really doint mean to sound patronising -im being quite sincere).

I like clubbing but couldn't do it non stop every weekend. Then it gets old, plus I worked in the club scene in my 20's, so it's not as if though I've missed something and not as if though anything has really "changed".

It's still fun... just in more moderation. I'll be going to clubs when I'll literally be the "old man in the bar".. well club

Boozing, especially bar boozing ceased to interest me shortly after my 21st birthday when it stopped being "exciting" and "interesting" (as scofflaw )
I'll drink for social lubrication, nothing more.

I also have no real friends here, but I don't really mind all that much. yes, there are times I do mind, but in the balance of things, when I look over my everyday life, frankly, I don't really have the time for a lot of socialization, at least not if I want to stick to my "made in Korea" gym regimen. Between a full day at school and the gym during the week, there's no time for going out. It's a pain. You're tired, you're a bit underslept (I'm a nightowl but work days) and often by the time the weekend rolls around, Friday night I am dead ass tired. I'll sleep 12 hours easily on a Friday night. It's only by Saturday night that I feel kind of refreshed and ready to roll, and then even with that, sometimes I'm more than content just to chill out and stay in.

I'm curious if my attitude would be different if I were in Seoul or closeby, instead of being a good 1.5 hrs away, but given how draining my workweek is, unless I literally lived in Itaewon or Hongdae and had some peeps to hang with a bit, things would remain the same.

@ tomato. haha, despite some of the awkwardness of your post, i appreciate the thought. as far as the nationality of people i'd like to meet, i'm an equal opp kinda guy.

@ vaga. haha, "old man in the bar." well, at least you're aware of it. some guys never do it seems. actually, my life at the moment mirrors yours a bit in that i don't have much time for stuff and am dead tired at the end of the week. work, gym, tv, sleep.
