David Broder has lost his mind

Quote:
Here is where Obama is likely to prevail. With strong Republican support in Congress for challenging Iran's ambition to become a nuclear power, he can spend much of 2011 and 2012 orchestrating a showdown with the mullahs. This will help him politically because the opposition party will be urging him on. And as tensions rise and we accelerate preparations for war, the economy will improve.

I am not suggesting, of course, that the president incite a war to get reelected. But the nation will rally around Obama because Iran is the greatest threat to the world in the young century. If he can confront this threat and contain Iran's nuclear ambitions, he will have made the world safer and may be regarded as one of the most successful presidents in history.

Are you kidding me?? WTF happened to David Broder? I always thought he was a bore and dumb as bricks but I also thought he was SANE. Apparently that's no longer the case.

Maybe one day there will be a court where war mongers are given a fair trial and then executed.

US resists Israel call for tough line on Iran

By Daniel Dombey in Washington and Tobias Buck in Jerusalem

Published: November 8 2010 18:37 | Last updated: November 8 2010 18:37

The US has pushed back at an Israeli attempt to convince Barack Obama, president, to make a credible military threat against Iran, in a sign of enduring tensions about how to handle Tehrans nuclear programme.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israels prime minister, told Joe Biden, US vice-president, at a weekend meeting in New Orleans that Washington should use tougher language and set out a clearer timeline in the dispute. In particular, he argued that only a credible military threat would convince Tehran to change course.

But, asked about Mr Netanyahus position, Robert Gates, US defence secretary, set out US resistance to the Israeli arguments.

I disagree that only a credible military threat can get Iran to take the actions that it needs to, to end its nuclear weapons programme, he said on Monday at a ministerial meeting in Australia. We are prepared to do what is necessary, but at this point, we continue to believe that the political, economic approach that we are taking is, in fact, having an impact in Iran.

Fight your own wars. Netanyahu can send his family and friends to kill and die using Israeli money.

Agreed. That's just complete arrogance on Netanyahu's part.

The one upside to Rand Paul's win for liberals is he's calling for defense spending cuts and I would like to think he'd be a vocal opponent to attacking Iran. Lindsey Graham is generally one GOP Senator I like but his focus on Iran is rather disturbing.

Liberals are among the most prestigious and effective war mongers.

In fact, liberalism is leftist thought without any real concern for the poor and/or lower classes. This is similar to conservatives, who should be trying to conserve but instead are a revolutionary force. War is peace. American parties and mainstream political organizations represent fake corporate/zionist Potemkin-ideologies.

I hate to sound like a hippie ranting in the floor lounge during freshman year, but the Democrat/liberal - Republican/conservative divide is a creation of the maann, man.

Yes, you do sound like a hippie. Say, "its the creation of the electoral college."

America survived with the electoral college for a couple hundred years without attacking Israel's neighbours.

Kuros, if Israel had been carved out of India your country would be in a war against Hindu terrorism. David Broder would be penning articles about how India's leader is the New Hitler and that there are WMD's etc etc etc.

Do you feel what I feel? That not only is history not over it hasn't even changed all that much. A Persian war with the Israelites?

Dude, chill out.

You know you've become obsessed when you are screeching to the choir. I'm simply advising you the erudite way to issue your complaint. I don't expect you to be completely up on everything American since you weren't born here. I don't know the subtleties of the Canadian system.

I've never advised bombing Iran, and I think Broder is vile.

The unedited version was funnier.
