i am going to malaysia for lunar new year... will arrive wed. morning and leave sun. afternoon so 4 nights. i would like to spend the last night in kuala lumpur but the first 3 preferably at a beach (or maybe a national park/jungle)... any recommendations that are less than 4 hours from KL by bus or train?
any other tips, hotel recommendations, etc. are appreciated! |

I went to Pulau Pangkor for 2-3 days. It is 3-4 hours from KL. I really enjoyed it but it was the low season (June) so there was hardly anyone there. I have a hunch it would be a lot more crowded when you'll be going to Malaysia.

It's been several years now since I was there so I can't tell you off the top of my head. I know we were near Coral Bay. I can look it up in my journal later on and might be able to give you more info that way. I think there are only 1-2 spots where budget travelers go. If you want something more upscale, I'm probably not the ideal source of info.  |

You can fly to Langkawi. Check the price. It may be high, may not be.
If you are in Kuala Lumpur, I saw a cheap ticket from there to Krabi on Air Asia. If you insist on staying in Malaysia, I guess not a good idea. But I have heard good things about Krabi. |
