Not knowing enough about either of the two people in question I couldn't possibly comment on who is right - however I would like to call up the OP on a couple of points.

Im a young guy just starting out - but i definitely do consider myself to be a teacher - its no necessarily what i want to do all my life but I've done my TESOL straight out of uni and I can see it would be a rewarding thing to do for a few years.

Korean teachers do expect us to parrot and repeat stock phrases - ok yes, but thats because they are used to hung over apathetic non teachers here to party - thats the reality - if you want to do something more interesting you can do it - I do all kinds of interesting things in my lessons because I see this as a way of building up my C.V - ( for the record I would be teaching at a language school in the UK but its very hard to get work in the TESOL industry without a few years experience)

If you want him to stop preaching to you - be a better teacher, do the research understand what your job is - then if he is wrong you can call him on it. And if someone has decided to make this there life, don't belittle it, don't tell people who have been out here for years that they are wasting their time and will never change anything - im not saying the guy is a saint he is probably as bad as you say but for people who are actually working hard to make things better for students having a co-worker bitch and gossip because they don't want to take their job seriously is not going to help things

I've got to agree with others OP, you're hardly going to win any friends here saying that we're all English teaching monkey's and not teachers (or words to that effect)

Your co-teacher obviously shouldn't be teaching if he's recking of alcohol and preaching in class. Combined with his holier than thou attitude regarding him being a better teacher than everyone else. You should have told him that, in nicer words, ages ago. Possibly over a beer.

So considering your words and his actions I'm actually glad you're in the same Kindi. Keep all the dross in one place, as it were

Best to just smile and ignore him as much as possible.

Or better yet smile and snicker to yourself next time he gives you un-solicited advice. If he asks why you are laughing, snicker louder and walk away.

I've had to work with a few 'class acts' as well. You won't change him.

Sounds like the typical weaboo looser type you often find who adopt Korea and ESL as their image.

Punch him in the face. Violence solves everything. And if he complains, tell him its ok because the Christians used violence in the crusades.

Just say words to the effect that I do my job for x amount per month so further contributions aren't required.

If you really do make more, he will get uptight but quick. Worked for me once.
