Good ideas. Unfortunately korea is not an attractive enough destination to warrant all of that.

I don't think it's that big of a deal and neither is it original. Check out WestGate in Japan. Many jobs I've applied to in Canada have a similar hiring process as well.

I think it's a nice compromise between not caring who you hire and demanding qualifications that are probably unrealistic. You could also attach more ideas to the site. For example it could be a knowledge and information portal, and a career tracker. Yould could put general GEPIK/EPIK announcements on there, and offer training modules (optional or mandatory).

My other idea is basically make applicants apply to be renewed every year and go through another interview. Automatically renew a portion of the teachers and make the others go through an interview stage. The co-teachers assessment would be taken into consideration but wouldn't be the entire deciding factor.

Honestly, have you ever worked or even been to Korea before.

I suppose one could encourage the formation of more groups like this to ensure that

"bad English Teachers" stay away from Korea.

http://extrakorea.wordpress.com/2010/01/31/anti-english-spectrums-leader-admits-to-stalking-following-foreign-teachers-in-the-los-angeles-times/

but you might find that you're encouraging everyone to stay away in the process.

Are school principals degree holders? Do they know about lesson planning or how to manage people?

What incentives do they have for good teachers to stay?
