Invited to a Korean's house tomorrow for dinner. There will be Chinese people there, so I'm assuming this has something to do with celebrating the Chinese New Year.

Do I bring something?

Fruit would not be out of place.

Sounds good jvalmer and ttompatz. Thanks. I hope the stores aren't too wild tomorrow.

Yes. It's the same as when I was back home, unless it was a very good friend and we visited each other often. Rule of thumb: if the person can go into your fridge without asking and vice versa, you don't need to bring presents for each other.

Box of juice, fruit, other food...all good options.

Bringing nothing would be odd and a bit rude.

In the USA, we bring bottles of good quality Italian wine and capelloi appetizers..In Korea, they bring bottles cheap liqour and a "fancy ( but bad tasting) cake" from The Corner Bakery Shop.

You know what Iam talking about?

Something is just wrong with this picture.

You bring a retired Italian footballer to eat when you visit someone? Plus he is only an appetizer? What's the main course? You Americans are weird.

A bit too late to chime in here, but if Chinese are involved, offering pears can be bad luck, since the Chinese character for 'pear' has a homophone for an inauspicious word.

Hope you didn't give pears ...

Bring cookies, fruits, or it depends on the person. Wine?
