i think it's just a typing habit they've got. |

I couldn't live without ^^ at this point. I think emoticons are great because it's so easy to clarify the tone of a message with them. I have had more than one typed message in an email misunderstood, and text messages because of space limitations have even greater potential to seem terse. A tiny, two-character ^^ solves that problem so nicely!
I agree though with annoyance when they devolve into mere habit and lose meaning. |
