if I were an overseas marketer, I'd use the optional title in almost every foreign country.
Why would S. Koreans or anyone else care or be interested in a superhero named 'Captain America'??? . unless they were intimately familiar with and liked the comicbook hero, and I'd bet most are NOT familiar with him. |

Yeah, fair enough-
But only three overseas marketers made that choice. Why the difference? What would be the reasons for the Korean marketers to make that choice? |

because they're smart and they want to make money. Your target audience will be Korean teenagers/youth. They're not anti American, but why would they be interested in a superhero called Capt. America?
now if you named him Capt Korea, then you might be on to something!  |

At least its getting released here. Somehow I doubt it's being released in say, Pakistan.
That being said, Hollywood is as guilty as anyone for these kind of antics.
The Mexican, starring Brad Pitt.
The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise.
Amistad, starring Matthew McCounaghy
Glory, starring Matthew Broderick

How is this related? Is Korea making the movie Captain America and casting a Korean as the leading man? |

Are you trying to tie in the fact that Hollywood does what it thinks its audience wants?
If not, I'm confused as to how this exactly relates to the OP. |
