Has anyone ever gone to graduate school while teaching? Can both be done at he same time? It seems like I have heard/read about there maybe being visa issue with teaching and going to school simultaneously. |

If you're on an F visa, it's not an issue at all. If you're on an E visa, you simply need to get permission from immigration. The school I went to required some official form from immigration to complete the application / registration program, but from what I understand, it's quite simple. |

Doing it at a Korean brick & mortar = get permission from Kimmi for an addition to your permitted activities under your status of sojourn.
Doing it by distance = not a visa issue.
Being able to do it (time commitment issues) while working full time is another matter.

Yup, me too. I have to fill out some forms in Korean every semester, but I am able to work and study at the same time. Thus far, ZERO problems. |

Anyone care to say where they're getting their MA from, in what, and how hard it is? |

Agreed. I, too, had been thinking about using my time in Korea to continue my Education. My own solution had been to use the On-line service of a University. The issue I am finding is that potential employers are stipulating that higher education include attending a given number of hours at a b&m School and not just on-line.
Since some employers mention having, say, Korean Language classes available for minimal or not fee, I knew there must be a loophole somewhere.
Best Wishes,
Bruce |

Check my post above. The second cohort is nearly finished. There are times when the work is easy and other times when it seems endless. I can tell you that there is a ton of pre-course work to make up for the short period of time the classes are squeezed into, the sessions are intensive (80 hours for two classes over ten days), and there is quite a bit of writing and presenting. I've yet to hear anyone from the first or second cohort complain that it wasn't worth though. Same goes for the MEd in International Education up at Seoul Foreign School, although that one requires a valid teaching certificate. |

There are waaay too many to list, but I can suggest that you review the postings for the Persian Gulf countries, Europe and South America. Since this is a Korean forum, I can also suggest that you take a look at the postings for Uni-s and the more reputable chains. FWIW.
Best Wishes,

Yeah, whatever.
Persian Gulf? South America? Europe? "More reputable chains" in Korea? Give me a break!
Let me guess. They're the same employers that sell the CELTA, right?
Go look it up for yourself.... that's about what I expected from someone blowing smoke out of their political behind.
Best wishes,
Swamp

Swampfox was working for a university in central Seoul, which makes it more reputable in Korea simply based on the default theory that Seoul is better, before he started his masters work. |

To be fair swamp, Bruce has a point.
Online education is still viewed with reservation by some employers, especially for graduate degrees.
This is often a misconception because online education is pretty darn amazing these days.
Still, it still has a ways to go to convince some sections of the employment field.
I know for a FACT that the University I worked for in Busan is reluctant when faced with a candidate with a MA earned online via distance Ed. This is slowly changing however. |
