Yeah . . . I'm about to leave Korea after 3 years of living here.

I'm interested in going to a Jjimjjilbang in my neighborhood that I've heard good things about.

I'm just wondering if people would find me funny if I brought an MP3 player

. . . I'm trying to see if any friends wanna go with me, but if that fails, it'd be nice to have something to listen to, and I've got hours of talks I need to catch up on . . . maybe I could do that in one of the sauna rooms.

Obviously, I won't have to think about an MP3 player if one of my friends wants to join me . . . but I doubt I'd enjoy sitting for hours without something to listen to (except indecipherable Korean conversations).

I don't really know what they're like . . . I assume they've got dry rooms as well as steamy ones . . .

Plus, I've got an old MP3 player that I usually take on my runs with me . . . it barely works already (some switches are not functioning properly, but it's good enough to play music while I run).

And I wouldn't be sitting with sweaty old men unless I'm in a common co-ed area, because I'm not a dude.

Should not be a problem, but perfect strangers may want to talk to you. I always have a book with me if I'm alone.

Sure, go ahead. Seriously, no one will care. People just go to these places to enjoy themselves.

Not in the sauna, but in the rooms where you wear the jammies, they're perfectly acceptable. I usually wear earbuds with white noise when I sleep over so that I don't have to listen to snoring or noisy chatting when I want to read or sleep. Just make sure to keep it in your pocket. My husband had a cell phone stolen because he had it next to him instead of in his pocket while he slept.
