Yeah . . . I'm about to leave Korea after 3 years of living here.
I'm interested in going to a Jjimjjilbang in my neighborhood that I've heard good things about.
I'm just wondering if people would find me funny if I brought an MP3 player
. . . I'm trying to see if any friends wanna go with me, but if that fails, it'd be nice to have something to listen to, and I've got hours of talks I need to catch up on . . . maybe I could do that in one of the sauna rooms.
Obviously, I won't have to think about an MP3 player if one of my friends wants to join me . . . but I doubt I'd enjoy sitting for hours without something to listen to (except indecipherable Korean conversations). |

I don't really know what they're like . . . I assume they've got dry rooms as well as steamy ones . . .
Plus, I've got an old MP3 player that I usually take on my runs with me . . . it barely works already (some switches are not functioning properly, but it's good enough to play music while I run).
And I wouldn't be sitting with sweaty old men unless I'm in a common co-ed area, because I'm not a dude. |

Should not be a problem, but perfect strangers may want to talk to you. I always have a book with me if I'm alone. |

Sure, go ahead. Seriously, no one will care. People just go to these places to enjoy themselves. |

Not in the sauna, but in the rooms where you wear the jammies, they're perfectly acceptable. I usually wear earbuds with white noise when I sleep over so that I don't have to listen to snoring or noisy chatting when I want to read or sleep. Just make sure to keep it in your pocket. My husband had a cell phone stolen because he had it next to him instead of in his pocket while he slept. |
